Charming books for young and old!
I am an adult, but I enjoy using children's materials for learning a language. They are always more engaging and playful. These little books are great! The sentences are simple and repetitive. The characters are big so it's easy to see the details. There is the pinyin under each sentence, and in the back of each book is a page- by- page translation in English. There is a QR code to scan for the audio which is complete with charming sound effects and a little ping for when to turn the page.

Surprisingly Perfect for Adult Beginners, too!
As someone in my 50s learning Mandarin, I didn’t expect to find a children's learning set so enjoyable—or so helpful. But Mandarin for Kids Set 1 (and 2) exceeded all expectations. This box set is brilliantly designed for beginners of any age. The stories are simple but engaging, with just the right amount of repetition to reinforce vocabulary without becoming boring. The combination of Simplified Chinese characters, pinyin, and English translation makes it easy to follow along and build confidence. I especially appreciate the online audio, which is clear, well-paced, and great for improving pronunciation and listening comprehension. The sound effects used for each sentence are a nice touch to help me remember what the words mean.Even though this set is marketed for kids, it’s invaluable for adult learners who want to build a solid foundation without getting overwhelmed. The colorful illustrations make the reading experience more memorable, and the short length of each book makes it easy to fit a quick lesson into a busy day.I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a lighthearted but highly effective tool to start learning Mandarin.

Fantastic set of simplified character mandarin books
I was very pleased with this set of books. At first I was unsure if my 3 1/2 yo was going to like the black and white pictures but this and the 小熊 books are the ones they routinely ask for me to read and also are content to look through by themself. The images are black and white except for the item that that corresponds to the new vocabulary word on the page. For example, in the written sentence the characters for the word orange are written in orange font instead of black like the rest of the words and the oranges depicted in the image are colored orange while everything else remains black and white. The sentences are simple and repetitive, usually changing only one word on each page which is very helpful for teaching proper sentence structure.A recording of a native speaker reading each book is provided which I love. I wish that they alternated between a male and female reader for the recordings as most educational recorded resources for children that we’ve found are done by female speakers. They only real gripe I have with this set (which has been mentioned by others) is that in the recordings there is a chime that alerts you that the speaker is moving on to the next page. My toddler has taken this as a signal to turn the page, which it is, except it chimes each time they read a page even when you don’t actually need to physically turn the page yet. I wish they would read the consecutive pages and only use the chime when it’s time to physically turn the page. I’m sure my child will figure it out when they get older. All in all I am pleased with this set of books and I will be purchasing set two.

Great for Adult Learners
I am just starting out with Yoyo Chinese and bought these book prematurely as they are a little more advanced than where I am at. I am still working on tones and pronunciation of pinyin combos. Just as a reference, I am on Unit 4 which is a little more than a week in so take anything I say about the quality/accuracy of this book with a grain of salt.I have purchased many Scholastic Books for my little one and this reminds me of those but of a higher quality. They offer a slow reading online that you can visit after purchase and even download the audio to go should you want to practice offline. I can easily hear the tones because they read slowly but in a story mode slow. You wouldn't read so slowly that a 5 year old would yawn and fall asleep but you wouldn't read fast either. It's the perfect spot. The words are color coded to show you they are talking about a certain person or thing. The boy or the girl has a represented color so you know they are being discussed as my upload shows.I can see a beginner adult easily outgrowing this collection in a matter of a short time but this I feel is an easy stepping stone and was worth the Èrshíwǔ I spent for it.Disclaimer: I have no Chinese language experience so I cannot verify the book's accuracy. Just the presentation of it was better than Scholastic.

Easy to implement! Love it!
At first I was a bit put off at the price, but after using this lovely set for several weeks, I see it is worth every penny! It is easy to implement and has a GREAT audio download (to insure correct pronunciation). The approach, style, and teaching method are well researched and carried out well. I was worried that the audio would be hard to hear or poor quality, but it is well done and the speaker is very clear. It is great quality! My children are picking up Chinese more quickly than before and they really love it! The text is colorful and the pictures are engaging, combine that with a great audio component, equals a perfect program. My only wish is there was a download audio option without the page turn "dings" (as older children/non-toddlers listening to it multiple times don't prefer the sharp sound). My techy husband took them out easily, but I'm sure other people would like that option too. My only request to the company is: MORE languages because it is such a GREAT teaching set!

Simple
My kid is learning Mandarin in kindergarten. These books are good. I thought It had a cd for kids, but I guess I should have read more into it. Next year I will get the Spanish one for her.
