At first I was worried that the little 3m strips would be the way this stayed. However I did not mess with these and they act more like a sliding pad. It was not seeming to fit, however it was perfect and just needed a hard snap into place. I was surprised how well it stayed and very happy with the purchase. It was easy to slide over, again the red pads in the back I am not sure if for this reason or as adhesive but I left intact and it assisted in sliding.

This is garbage. The sticky part doesn't even reach the flat mounting surface so it has no chance of sticking. Amazon needs to weed out these crappy sellers. My item doesn't even look like what's presented in the pictures here.

2014 750Li - Fits as advertised and pictured in the video. Yes, the sticky strips seem a bit lacking….I have not yet peeled the covers off, I am wanting to see if they’re even needed. Plus, I’m not 100% sure on placement yet. I added a separate mag-safe charger and so far it’s all very happy. Once I am happy with placement I will likely add proper 3M product over the sticky tape. I bought this same style of mount for my 2020 Range Rover and was very happy….

This is a great purchase if you have a 7 series BMW. Its easy to install and use if you dont want to put your phone on the charger. The only downside to this device is removing the phone. The two latches dont stick out far enough for one handed phone removal. The work around for it is to just snatch your phone straight up, out of the holder and then use the buttons to reset the device for the next use. Even so, I would still recommend this to other alternatives. Oh, and it keeps your phone out of the way of the vents, infotainment system, steering wheel and other controls.
