A musical and technical triumph.
I should point out right at the start that in common with most people I don't have a SACD player, never mind an SACD mulichannel player, but given just how superb this Blu-Ray sounds frankly who cares. This is a masterclass demonstration in how to record a superb surround sound disc, everything is clear, well balanced and precisely located in the sound stage, it's difficult to imagine how it could sound any better. With the added benfit that the music is also superb; the playing is faultless and the choice of material excellent. A delightful combination of the well known, Britten's Simple Symphony, to the less well known, Bacewicz's Concerto for String Orchestra. This is the second Blu-Ray/SACD disc set for Trondheim Soloists on the 2L label the other one being the equally superb 'In folk Style' and they are both real gems, both technically and musically. I really cannot recommend them highly enough. So if your a music lover and you've got access to a Blu-Ray surround sound system this is an essential purchase. One last point, if you haven't got a Blu-ray player yet but are planning to get one, this would still be a worthwhile purchase because the hybrid SACD disc plays fine in my standard CD player and while it can never hope to sound as good as the full surround sound from the b-ray discs, it is very good, unlke some hybrid SACD's where the standard CD track doesn't sound quite right..

SACD or Blu-ray... you choose.
As has been previously reported it goes without saying that this recording is exemplary. All that remains is whether you like all the pecrs on offer. After trying the blu-ray in surround sound first, which sounded great, the SACD in surround sound was EVEN BETTER. The strings had a little better clarity and were more obviously defined. The blu-ray, although dynamic was just a little softer that's all - but great that this set allows you to have the chance to choose. Recommended.

First Music Only Blu-ray in the world - Opens your ears.
Divertimenti - Trondheim Solistene [Hybrid SACD] [Includes Blu-Ray Disc ]DIVERTIMENTI is the first music-only recording to be made available commercially and is undoubtedly one of the best quality recordings you will ever hear. Released in 2008, 2L have since surpassed it with other recordings but this still stands out as the musicianship is also extremely good. I didn't know Britten until I heard this work but was hooked from the opening bars of The Simple Symphony, the first track on this record. I'm sure that this was partly due to the astonishing audio quality which makes it sound as if you are really there. Also included are works from Bartok, Baceiwiz, and Bjorkland and I had never heard either of the last two composers before but these were superb introductions. The Trondheim Solistene are a young Norwegian ensemble that I had also never heard before this. I am now a big fan and watch the 2L site for their latest releases. This recording will open your ears to the possibilities of Blu-Ray and give you one of the best listening experiences of your life. 69 Minutes of great music, beautifully played and superbly recorded - Buy it!
