I like to organize things I use often into self contained "Kits". Meaning, I like to keep everything I need for a particular purpose together and ready for whenever I need them. For instance, when I travel, I know I'm going to need certain toiletries & certain electronics. So I keep in my carry-on bag a fully stocked toiletries kit and a fully stocked travel electronics kit containing cables, portable charger, battery bank, ear phones, etc. That way, I have less packing to do and I know that I won't forget the necessities. I do the same with what I call my portable office. The kit contains the laptop, charger, portable printer, supplies, USB-C hub, external SSD, conference speakerphone and necessary cables. When I saw this leather convertible backpack on Amazon, I thought this was an elegant housing for the kit. First, this backpack is rugged. It's made from a thick natural leather. The workmanship is heavy duty with handsome hardware. On the front there are 2 flap pockets and a zipper pocket. There are 2 more flap pockets on the sides. Inside there are 3 full width compartments and 2 more zippered pockets. I can fit everything I need for my portable office and still have room to spare. This bag can be configured so you can carry it like a brief case, slung over your shoulder like a messenger bag or wear it like a back pack. I prefer over my shoulder like a messenger bag. This bag is not only practical because of all the pockets, it's also a handsome accessory. I'm quite pleased.

The Good: -Metal/leather construction -Many pockets -Several zipper pockets -Canvas interior The OK: -Zipper and buckle hardware seems more mid-grade than premium (it’s all good but not quite as good as premium options like YKK or Ideal) -Interior capacity is about ½ a standard tactical bag (it’s enough for a couple text books or some work items) -Straps are unpadded leather (not super comfortable under heavy load or for long periods) -Much of the leather is unfinished on the back (It’s a different look and some people like it but also a corner to cut) -Most pockets are about the size of a few cell phones stacked (not necessarily the most practical) The Bad: -No real padded laptop/tablet pocket (center compartment is padded but sleeve pockets that would fit these devices well are only 1/2) Leather bags are great and really can look wonderful. They break in over time and with the right care can be more beautiful and comfortable to use after few years. This one seems to be mostly thick, mid quality leather that would break in fine. The stitching all seems strong and the straps are secured with metal buckle leaving little to fail. The zipper and buckle hardware seems somewhat mid-grade but is better than much of what’s out there. The exterior buckle pockets are mostly the same size and might not be useful for everyone. There doesn’t appear to be any true padded laptop/tablet holder and the interior capacity is less than a standard backpack or tactical bag by a significant amount. Leather is well finished or rear is covered in canvas. The straps are unpadded and wouldn’t be great under any significant load or for a long period, practical work bag but definitely not a serious hiking bag. Overall, it’s a good-looking bag with mid-grade components at an ok value for all leather. If you want something smaller than an average backpack, in this style, it really might be a great choice for you.

Okay so I got this originally to use just for renn faires this year, but honestly this is a quality backpack. I will most likely only use it for renn faires still because I don't have much use for an every day backpack like this, however if you're looking for a high quality leather backpack that gives sort of fantasy esque vibes, I think this one works amazing! For the price I feel like it's a decent deal given that it is real leather, and it seems ruggedly made. It would add a nice piece of whimsy if used every day as an accessory because it does have a vintage/fantasy feel, and it has sooo many compartments! I will be using this whenever I have an excuse to and I definitely recommend.
