Of course it's good...
I have had a few versions of this book over the years. It gets updated as Flash changes. (Now it has changed its name to Animate CC, but it's still Flash with a different name.I got this book, rather than the newer "Animate" book, because I was informed that they brought in a different author, and the contents are not as well done as they had been when George was doing it alone.Additionally, there aren't really any changes between this (the last Flash book) and the latest "Animate " book. (Other than including subpar content)So this is the one I fully recommend.

Not a fan of the new version which cots more and contains much less useful information in it
This is still my go to book for Adobe Animate for my students. Not a fan of the new version which costs more and contains much less useful information in it. I teach my students to nest and symbol cycling. Chris covers that here. Would like to see Chis do an update on the new camera, etc. First book in this series I bought and used for teaching was CS3! Been buying then up yo the new 2017 version. This was the last good book in that series. Fantastic!

Good information but Lacks HTML5 information
Hi. This is a great book series. I bought this version instead of the most recent 2018 because of the reviews. However, this version doesn't have the HTML5 and most recent output data, which I think is very much needed for the newest Adobe Animate cloud update. Also, the authors should not keep using the older tutorial examples so that someone like myself can buy the newest revision for Adobe updates and get something totally fresh for the rather high cost of the book.

Exactly what I was looking for!!
Fantastic! So many times, I have spent HOURS going through various video, online and book tutorials just to find the ONE technique that I needed to learn for a particular project (i.e. - making smoke, particles, transformations, etc...). This book does just the reverse - which is what I think most people are looking for. Instead of just giving you a series of tutorials, this is an awesome reference that provides a TON in individual techniques. It's also designed very well for easy accessing of information. Another great focal press book!

I took the class in college, but this book ...
I took the class in college, but this book doesn't make me figure out the hard stuff, it shows me what to do and then change what I want. Anybody using Flash needs this book, even the experts, it will definitely help improve any skill level.

Ultimately frustrating.
Though the author seems to know his salt he skips various steps through the projects causing the projects to never turn out quite like his. Brief overviews of each step often end up causing my practice project to never look like his finished product, and since each step is so brief I can never work backwards to nail down what I did wrong. This ends up being frustrating and ultimately a waste of time. I found myself going to online tutorials more and more to learn what he was trying to teach. Shame since the book is somewhat expensive and could potentially teach some cool things. As alluring as it is I cannot recommend this book and wish I hadn't wasted my money, especially when there are better resources out there.
