This works great! Case is well made and so far it has achieved the stated file transfer rates on a Thunderbolt 4 port. Do note: the cable provided with the case does not support the maximum transfer rates. The Blackmagic speed test would only produce read/write speeds of approximately 980 MB/s with the cable provided. When I connected the HyperDrive to my Max Studio with a Thunderbolt 4 cable, I consistently get writes speeds between 2700 and 3000 MB/s and Read speeds slightly above 3000 MB/s.

Paired this to a Samsung 990 Pro and away we go! Great build qualilty . All aluminum design - Feels super sturdy. I ditched the rubber cover as the drive is permantly connected to M2 Mac Studio and not used for travel. It comes with a TB4 cable but i had an Apple TB4 cable that i'm using instead. R/W speeds exceed 3000 Mbps (using Black Magic app). As others have noticed, the drive enclosure does get hot. I plopped a 40mm fan on top and enclosure stays super cool. Very happy with purchase and highly recommended.

Solid packaging, doesn't overheat and holds large capacity drives just like advertised. It is a bit on the heavy side, but I knew that when I ordered it and it is fine for my application.

Works well with Western Digital 850x. For those complaining about heat with the Samsung 990, that is an issue with the design of that ssd not this enclosure.This enclosure warms up as it dissipates heat as designed. Very solid hunk of aluminum seemingly well built so far.I'm seeing close to 3200 speeds with BlackMagic.When I first got the unit it took a long time connect to my m4 MacMini but not my m1 MacBook Pro. I found this odd because other brands I tried did not have this issue. The MacBook connected immediately. That issue seems to have fixed itself. There may have been an Apple firmware update on the mini as Ive seen the larger apple logo and progress bar a few times on a reboot.I do have an issue with the drive disconnecting on occasion. I have no idea what would cause this. the cord and drive don't move, so it's not a bad connection. I have a different brand also connected to the same mini with a WD 770 and have not had any issues.If the design team is listening, I like how the unit opens w/o tools but the drive needs a screw. The little rubber thing holding the drive down is silly. This unit comes with an extra rubber hold down which I've probably already misplaced. If I ever do take this drive out and lose the rubber, replacement locally will be impossible

Paired this enclosure with a Samsung 980 Pro and it is blazing fast. I am using it to run my Virtual Machine externally and it performs awesome. It does get warm but nothing too serious. Recommended item!

Overheats! I transferred 2TB and by the time it was done, it was hot enough to burn you. It also thermal throttled down to 20 MBs. It needs a fan! I was using a Samsung 990 Pro 4TB.Otherwise, I like the design, it is a bit heavy and it matched my Macbook.

So the drive works perfectly. but please be warned. for some reason they ship it with the wrong cable. this sounds petty. but it left me so confused. it's a usb 3.1 cable I think. I ended up having to buy and change and sell different drives to try to fix it. before realizing it was the cable. This is such a crazy oversight. I wasted so much time.

I upgraded to the HyperDrive Next enclosure after being disappointed with a cheaper alternative, and the difference is night and day. This enclosure is incredibly well-built and delivers truly impressive transfer speeds. It's exactly what I needed for fast and reliable external storage. Well worth the investment for anyone serious about performance.
