Heavy but that's what you pay for toughness. Good keylock (3 keys). No easy frame mount so I carry it in my basket wrapped in a heavy bag and a bungee net. So glad I got the long shackle option!

I wasn't sure whether to get this lock or a slightly smaller one, as I wanted to make sure I could lock up two bikes, but this seemed like over kill. Turns out that this worked perfectly! I can easily lock up two bikes with this lock, and feel the security of a Kryptonite lock. Pros: -big enough to lock up two bikes to any post -fits nicely on the rear rack of my bike -very durable material, can tell that it's not easy to cut through, tamper with, etc. -3 keys! and one of them has a built in LED light, so I'm not worried about losing them anytime soond Cons: -heavy -big (which works out well for me since it sits nicely on my bike's rear rack (I tie it down with a few bungees), but if I were trying to hold it in a pocket or backpack or something that might be a different story) -That little latch that covers the keyhole can be a pain to move sometimes, but it does offer additional security Overall, the price increase from a regular kryptonite to this one probably isn't worth it for most people, and I'm not even sure if it's worth it for me, but with a bike lock I guess it's one of those things you wouldn't know about until it goes missing. With this lock, I feel pretty confident that my bike is not going to go missing.

The good: Simple operation and a reputation that will discourage many thieves from even trying The bad: It's heavy. Very heavy. Unbelievably heavy. But the heaviness is almost certainly a function of how tough it is. Other than that, it performs exactly as specified. I have no complaints. The ugly: Overall: It's a bike lock. I generally pay it no mind while I ride or while I'm parked. Using it to lock a bike is simple enough, and the lock is solid enough that I have no worries leaving my bike parked with it on. Important note: This one does not come with a built-in mounting bracket and spline. If you want to be able to mount it to your frame, you will either need to find a different one of these with the mounting gear already on or order the hardware as a separate item (which will run 10-20 bucks). This lock is great!!! It is much heavier than my old lock, but also provides the peace of mind so that I can go about my day without having to constantly worry about my bike still being there when classes are over. I do have a fairly long commute (12 miles one way) so the weight does add up over time, but I feel its worth it. The longer version of this lock allows me to put the "U" through my rear triangle and wheel, securing them both. Also, the little keyhole cover is nice to protect the locking mechanism from the elements. This lock feels super strong, and is rubber coated so it doesn't scratch my bike. If I had to do it again, I would probably just buy locking skewers and a smaller U-Lock, but this works great for the time being. If you're looking for the strongest, biggest, most secure lock out there, then this one is definitely for you!

I will start my review by saying that as expected, the lock is extremely sturdy and heavy, weighing 4 pounds 5 ounces and comes with three keys. The shackle is 3/4" thick and the locking mechanism is 1 1/2" in diameter, which is a great deterrent for most of the opportunity bike theft situations since it should be extremely hard for someone to defeat the lock without the use of some power tools. The interior dimensions of the shackle are 4" wide and 10 1/4" from the top center bottom of the shackle to the top of the yellow locking mechanism which is longer and wider than most. The yellow locking mechanism also removes completely from the double-post shackle when unlocked which allows for easy securement of the the frame and rear tire (and the front tire if you remove it) to most posts. The lock exterior dimensions are 6 5/8" x 12 7/8". The entire U-lock is coated with a durable vinyl coating, which has held up well even after the lock falling off of the bike twice after being jolted off by heavy bumps. My only gripe is the black cover on the locking mechanism rotates easily if twisted and can keep the shackle from locking, not a very big issue if you handle the locking mechanism by the yellow cover instead when placing and removing the lock. The bottom of the lock has a sliding key hole cover which is easy to operate and locks in and out place. The lock uses a high-security type key which makes the lock very pick-resistant and should be far more secure than the previous round tumbler designs from Kryptonite (some can be opened using a Bic pen!). One of the keys has a built in LED light which is very bright if you need to use it at night. If you register the lock key code on Kryptonite's Website you can receive a replacement should you ever lose the keys that come with the lock. The theft guarantee had too many restrictions to be useful, so I wouldn't use that as a primary reason to purchase this lock. The reason I didn't rate the lock 5-stars is at first the locking mechanism would stick at times, making it difficult to remove the key. I used some silicone spray in the key hole which has definitely helped. The other issue is that since this is such a large and heavy lock, finding somewhere to secure it on your bike isn't easy. I hang the lock from a bracket on the handlebars that is for a front basket and the weight of the lock is sufficient to keep it from moving unless you go over a very large bump in the road. Overall this would be an excellent and high security lock for anyone leaving a bicycle unattended for long periods of time or in a high crime area. For other situations like a quick trip to the store it's probably overkill, but is great for piece of mind as long as you don't mind the added weight on your bike and have a way to carry it. If you don't have a convinient place to carry the lock on your bicycle and don't mind a shorter length U-lock, the Kryptonite New York Standard Bicycle U-Lock with Bracket ( 4-Inch x 8-Inch) might be a better choice since it basically a shorter (4" x 8") and a bit lighter (3.9lbs) version of the New York LS U-Lock, with the same 16mm shackle and includes a bracket to mount the lock on your bike.

Ever since I bought this bike lock, I haven't worried about my bike getting stolen! I've had it for about a year now in Chicago, IL and it hasn't failed me yet. The hardened steel feels solid and completely uncuttable which puts my mind at ease while my bike is locked outside at night. It's also big enough that I've even been able to lock two bikes at once with it in the past. Also great if you do nighttime delivery biking because the keys have an LED light built into them so it's quick and easy to lock and unlock at night. An overall durable and high quality lock that will keep your bike secure even in the busiest of cities.

Not so easy to carry but very strong lock that you can use anywhere.

I bought it to discourage someone and I think it will do it . heavy and sturdy product is not convenient to carry with you without backpack but I took it for the garage . really happy for the purchase.

Excellent product, very heavy duty construction. The key is also well built and stands up to continuous use. The lock gives me confidence that my bicycle is well protected.

This is a large U-lock with plenty of reach between my frame and back wheel to secure it. The best place I've found to carry it is on my handle bars threaded over my handle bar extension.
