good PLA filament and great price
I decided to try the eSUN PLA filament because of the low price of $10.44/kg. I measured the diameter in 30+ places along the first 3 meters, and the average diameter is 1.70mm vs 1.75, but I just dialed the actual diameter into my slicer. I didn't do any testing for optimum print temperatures or anything, and just did a couple of 3 hour prints at 205°C (60°C bed), at .3mm layer height, and they came out great. First layer print bed adhesion was not incredible, but certainly good enough to stay in place on the build plate. I printed a couple of tapered cylindrical functional prints, and the 63mm diameter, 2.5mm wall thickness, 100% infill part, has almost no deflection when squeezing it super hard, and nowhere close to breaking it. I ordered 2 more rolls.EDITS: After I did the initial prints shown above, I did some prints with small footprints, and I noticed poor bed adhesion. I could use glue but I increased the first layer extruder temp to 230°C which seemed to help.

Esun if the price is right
I've had the opportunity to work with the eSUN PLA Filament 1.75mm, and here's my detailed review of its performance:Print Quality and ToughnesseSUN's upgraded PLA filament delivers impressive print quality with a noticeable increase in toughness compared to standard PLA. The prints come out with sharp details and a smooth finish. This high toughness makes the filament suitable for both decorative and functional parts, offering better impact resistance and durability.Dimensional AccuracyThe filament maintains a consistent 1.75mm diameter with minimal variation. This consistency is crucial for reliable and accurate printing, and eSUN does a good job in this regard. The prints retain their intended dimensions, which is essential for precise and intricate designs.Ease of UsePrinting with this filament is straightforward and hassle-free. It feeds smoothly through the extruder without any clogging or tangling issues. Bed adhesion is reliable with a heated bed, and warping is minimal. The filament responds well to standard PLA print settings, making it easy to work with for both beginners and experienced users.VersatilityThis high toughness PLA is versatile enough for a wide range of applications. It's suitable for prototypes, functional parts, and decorative items. The added durability makes it a better choice for parts that need to withstand some wear and tear compared to regular PLA.Value for MoneyeSUN offers a good balance between quality and cost with this filament. The enhanced toughness adds value without a significant increase in price. Considering the improved durability and reliable print quality, it provides excellent value for money.ConclusionIn summary, the eSUN PLA Filament 1.75mm with high toughness is a top choice for those seeking a more durable alternative to standard PLA. It offers excellent print quality, reliability, and ease of use, making it suitable for a variety of applications. Its enhanced toughness sets it apart, providing extra durability for functional and decorative parts alike.

Works great!
Love this yellow filament. Stronger than expected and prints come out great looking. Melts well at 210 to 215C depending on the nozzle and settings on the extruder. No clogs yet and no stringing.

in order to get it to print, I had to raise the nozzle temp to 240, and it's still stringing
TL;DR - something is wrong with this filament as it seems to want *extremely* high temps in order to print. I do not suggest purchasing and will not be purchasing any more filament from eSun.Printer used: Monoprice Voxel MPstarted with a 3DBenchy print at 210 for the nozzle and 50 for the bed. Would not adhere to the bed. Added stick glue. Adhered but the print was thin and stringy, and the filament stopped extruding somewhere around 50% completion. Tried at nozzle temps of 205, 200, and 195 but none would adhere no matter what I tried. Increased temp to 215 with glue on the bed, and got the print to adhere to the bed (see photo). The first 25% of the print is solid, with no stringing. The next 50% is "thin" as if it wasn't extruding enough material, and stringy. You can see through it completely in some areas. Then the last 25% is fine again.I continued increasing the temps in 5-degree increments in an attempt to get a decent print. At 240 (the highest my printer will go) I finally got a decent print, although it's still stringy.Attempted to print some other designs at 240 (bed at 60) and while they print successfully, the finished print is rough, still thin in smaller areas, and stringy.Contrast that with filament from FLASHFORGE which prints solidly at a nozzle temperature of 200 with minimal stringing (see second picture). This is a brand new batch of filament that I ordered after having so many issues with the eSun roll. Given that it is printing at a normal temperature, and adhering to the bed with no issues, I'm confident the problem lies with this eSun filament and not a larger issue with the printer.I've probably used too much filament trying to figure out why it wouldn't print correctly to be able to return. However, I will not be buying more from eSun. Be warned that you may have issues getting a successful print with this filament. I would *strongly* suggest printing a temp tower as your first print to see if you're going to have troubles.
