NEW Rinnai RX199iN Condensing Smart Sense Natural Gas or Propane Tankless Water Heater, Indoor or Outdoor Water Heater, Up to 11.1 GPM, 199,000 BTU

We are a big family. 5 grown adults. The Hot Water Tank we had (A.O. Smith, 50 gallon) had come with the house. If I am not mistaken, it was from 2004. We knew it would need replacing at some point…we just prayed it wasn’t gonna die —but it did. During Tornado Season. We had a tornado tear through town, and yes, we had damage. We needed a new roof and a new fence. Two Deductibles, totaling $14K. We were not amused. 😒 However, now that it had failed, what do we do? Tankless Water Heaters have been around and it has had many iterations. Our son, did a deep dive on TWH, and he found two. Both Rinnai. Given the #of people living here who like to take long hot showers…and me, who likes to do laundry in the morning…the 11.1 gallon was an easy pick. Our son installed it. (It’s good to have a kid in the trades) He said he had to add a 90* PVC for ventilation, but the install was pretty straightforward. It is so quiet! Our son’s bedroom is right behind the back wall of the utility room and he never hears it. I hear it recirculating in our bathroom, which is easily 70’ from the TWH. The promptness of hot water flowing to our bathroom is amazing! I’m happy to say I am happy how well it works in the background. Once that 50 gal tank was removed, planning placement was obvious for us. It saved space to get the other monster (The Furnace) room to breathe. We paid $1770.00 — and I know a regular old water heater would have been cheaper to buy, but with all the bells and whistles this product has, I think we will get our money’s worth.

It works as expected. The only issue is the rinnai central app. It does not work. The heater is fantastic. Non stop hot water for the whole house. It does make some noise que running, nothing major if it’s in the garage or outside. Definitely worth the money. They should make these standard across the board. It will not take that much space. As for durability they offer a great warranty when installing. Would do it it again 10/10

Wonderful replacement for our electric water heater. Our electric water heater sprang a leak so we decided to spend the bucks and go tankless. We had a propane tank already. Installation was straight forward and doable as a DIY project if you know something about plumbing. This water heater is very economical to operate, is saving us money on electric, and it gives us unlimited hot water. More than enough to run a washing machine, dishwasher, and shower simultaneously! Wish I would have made these change sooner. Now planning to put the same model in a mountain home.

High quality build and tech design. Installation is straight forward thanks to the excellent, detailed instruction manual*. Nonetheless, pre-planning mounting location, materials, electrical service outlet if not already available, is strongly advised. To really maximize energy efficiency, the On Demand BLE Bluetooth button accessory is recommended vs the auto cycle which I found to be cycling every 10mins vs. 28mins as defined by the temperature setting. It was to the point that even the cold water taps were warm, so a lot of wasted energy. Instead, we bought the BLE button accessory ($32) to activate the water recirculation 5 min cycle while getting ready to shower; we turn on shower and with 15 seconds, hot water is flowing saving lots of water and energy!! We are thrilled by knowing we will be saving tons of water and energy year over year. * My only critique is the installation manual is limited in explaining some of the non-critical setup parameter features when configuring the unit for initial operation and does not make clear what you need to set up the Bluetooth on demand operation. I had to call their tech support to figure out the cost effective BLE button option ($32) for on demand set up. Also the app is very limited for the customer personal use features unless you buy a wifi module accessory to allow some remote features set up (more complex installation, $200+). Overall minor quips. The unit is of high build quality and sophisticated technology design that provides hot water efficiently and saves water due to the On Demand recirc feature!! Love it!

Works well overall but pump is louder than expected. Can't adjust the pump frequency much, only economy or comfort settings. I have it set to economy but it still runs the recirculation pump more often than I like.

I have got it from amazon installed by professional assistance, firstly ℹ disappointed with the temperature max to 120F you cannot change manually, unless i noticed app with professional account its connected via Bluetooth and i can enable recirculating water and also temperature can be maxed at 140F . Only draw back is take few seconds to reach water on morning!! Except that all is good takes less space then 1 suitcase 🧳 Now it covers 2 units with separate laundry units and dishwasher + 2 washrooms + 2 kitchens so far so good, same tank was around 4k in rona and good thing is that you can get 5+ 5 years of labour and parts warranty make sure you register your product on installation!! Otherwise it defaults to 90 days !!

So far, so good. Install was simple and straight forward. It takes some getting used to compared to a tanked model but it provides even temp every time.

I am using the on demand water heater as a domestic water heater as well as infloor heating system. It is working great and very efficient.

Unit arrived damaged and obviously previously used. Hoping to get another unit that has not been tampered with

Installed it my self as DIY handyman. Read the manual cover to cover. I Just left the Gas line to be finalized with licensed HVAC/Gas person, they also inspected my venting work, saved a lot. Make sure you have enough BTU coming in for all the gas appliances, some of gas people who gave me quotes will do shortcuts and did bad calculations , rinnai manual also doesnt have pipe elbows accounted in their BTU calculation book, calculate and confirm BTU coming in yourself with proper gas line code manual. Works perfectly, recirculation pump and valve does its job. The only thing you will have to get proper fittings for valve to be able to attach it to the furthest faucet. Valve has 1/2 fittings and most faucet have 3/8. But thats easy fitting. Great Product!
