Iittala Alvar Aalto 160mm Clear Vase

Present for my daughter since, amazingly, she didn't have one already. We are from Finland as is the vase, so it was a minor miracle that she didn't already own one. Now she does!

Beautiful vase.

This is classic modernist design object that is well-crafted and substantial in material and form. That said, I encourage you to think about whether or not you truly love the shape, size, and height before investing in it. While its quality is certainly worth the price, consider how you will use it. Is it an object to behold for display? Will you actually be using it as a vase and it will be getting wear? Either way, you might consider buying a used version. There is no shortage of the non-vintage versions around for less money. I decided to purchase a new contemporary production of the vase because I did not like it enough to pay a premium for a collector’s period version of it and I did not want to get obsessed with all the secondary market versions and their merits and flaws. However, my reasoning and use of it are moot. I promptly knocked it to the ground shattering it to smithereens.

The vase arrived damaged. There was no anti-collision material inside the package, and the outer packaging was damaged. I have no idea what this beautiful vase went through during its lifetime.

ずっと欲しかったアアルトベース、サイズに迷ったのですが、16cmにしました。 サイズを数値で見ていたよりも、実物を見ると、思っていたよりも大きいです。 ミニブーケなどの丈の花を生けるなら、12cmでも良かったかも。 でも、普通の切り花を買うことの方が多いので、16cmで良かったかなと思います。 それから、アマゾンのショップで購入したところ、ちゃんとイッタラの専用のボックスに入っており、とても嬉しかったです。アアルトの写真がデザインされたモノクロの素敵な箱で、自信を持ってギフトにも使えそうな商品です。 最後に、実は届いた商品を見たら3mmほどの小さな欠けがありました。あまり目立たないし、このままでもいいか迷ったのですが、思い切ってアマゾンカスタマーセンターに電話しましたところ、快く新しい商品を送ってくださる手配をしてくださいました。 ショップの対応の良さ、商品ともに、大変満足しております。
