Over the years I've completed a dozen or so of these ROKR kits, mainly the music box type and the motorised fairground trio, and enjoyed them all. This one has been given a 4 star (out of 5) degree of difficulty but don't let that put you off. As with all of the ROKR kits that I have completed, it came well packaged with all of the tools and accessories (screwdriver, sand paper, wax etc) provided - I must have about a dozen of those little screwdrivers now!). Similarly as with all kits, it came with a detailed instruction manual but with one slight improvement. This time, the additional items listing - different screws etc - was a separate sheet of paper which meant I didn't have to keep turning back to the front of the manual to identify which additional part was required. I put the kit together slowly over 7 days - I find that no more than an hour or so at a time works for me - and the build is broken down into sections. Patience is required and, when tackling difficult sections or when the instructions aren't quite clear, I found my old friend YouTube to be very helpful - you can more or less guarantee that someone will have put up a video of showing how to build, some much more detailed than others. I find YouTuber Daniel Builds to be particularly good at this and no doubt I shall visit his pages again when I tackle my next project - the ROKR steam engine has already been acquired! As for the printing press, it was a very successful build - I only managed to break two pieces (a record low for me, I think) but a little super glue soon sorted - and it really works! From a practical point of view, other than being an interesting display item, its use is limited but could no doubt be used to make, for example, business cards or gift tags and I'm sure children would enjoy making patterns and designs from the letters and symbols provided (not to mention getting ink all over their fingers!). It's a pity different coloured ink pads aren't provided though, as a selection of colours would help get the creative juices flowing.

Whilst quite complex to build and a little fiddly in places if you follow the instructions you will really enjoy building it. This model actually works and prints out little cards.

So impressed with these kits. Too intricate for young children but a fantastic hobby for adults.

I completed this over a period of a week (couple of hours each day) It's fiddly, but worth it. The unit works well, but if I am to be critical, it comes with a pad of letters which you separate to form words. This means that from one pad, you could end up with 26 individual letters. No box to put them in was supplied, nor is the ability to order more ink pads or paper. However, there is a lot of fun to be had with this

Bought as a gift for my girlfriend, we assembled it together over the course of several afternoons and evening. It's a complicated piece but with beautiful results at the end. Even with instructions, it is not easy to assemble so I wouldn't recommend for anyone under 14 at minimum. Thoroughly recommend working on it with a partner though, it was a really nice to work together on something like this.

Es más fácil de montar de lo que parece a priori, solo que es montaje largo. Las instrucciones son claras y viene todo lo necesario para montarlo excepto la pilas (evidentemente). Muy divertido y realmente sirve como impresora antigua.

Mein Sohn (10) liebt das Basteln und hat sich die Druckmaschine gewünscht. Sie ist nicht ganz einfach aufzubauen, man braucht Geduld, aber er hat es fast alleine geschafft. Das Endergebnis kann sich sehen lassen. Er hat eine riesen Freude damit und druckt jetzt seine Visitenkarten selbst. Fördert die Feinmotorik und ist eine sinnvolle Beschäftigung für Kinder.
