Awesome looking, very affordable and packed with premium features
I just returned a name brand guitar that cost twice the price of my LJ Monsoon that showed up with scratches in the finish even though the box was undamaged showing they have no quality control. This guitar showed up perfect and has way better features than the name brand that cost twice the price. The burl top is awesome, but every other part of the guitar is a premium feature, from the locking tuners, scalloped and painted reverse headstock, roasted maple neck, 21:1 locking tuners, and AlnicoV pickups, to the offset inlays, and bound body and neck.

Awesome guitar!
Wow, what an impressive guitar! Aesthetically, it's beautiful. The violet color, finish, and design are all nice. The neck is thin, fast, and "shreddy". The stainless steel frets are fat and smooth as butter. The binding around the body AND neck add to the quality feel. The hardware is all high quality. I love the feel of the hip shot style bridge. The Alnico 5 pickups are hot (15.8k & 7.5K resistance) and sound great. The tuners are smooth and precise with a 21:1 gear ratio. Out of the box the guitar needed a little adjustment. After setup this guitar feels and plays like a $600+ guitar. I just can't say enough how pleased I am with this guitar. If the headstock said Ibanez or Schecter it would sell for 4x the price.

Mostly good
Needing a new budget guitar, I scoured the usual YouTube experts and went with the Leo Jaymz Monsoon, blue burl finish. This is a beautiful guitar, not a flaw or blemish to be found. The bridge pickup is great, as in hot. The neck pickup was sunk at a weird angle in the cavity and very loose. A little foam under the pickup and tightening the screws helped (mostly). A truss rod adjustment helped with the buzz on the low E at the 9th fret. I'll put on some new strings after oiling the fretboardand maybe lower the action a little more, when I have more time. Overall, I'm pretty pleased. It's a $240 (with a $30 gift certificate) guitar. I do think I'll take the recommendations from the experts (who get their guitars free) with a grain of salt next time. Recommended, but be prepared to put a little work in. Updated:. When looking to lower the action, I noticed that the neck angle is off. The neck has a positive angle, if you lay the guitar down, the neck angle is up towards the headstock. I'm considering shimming the neck to lower the angle but that might be above my comfort zone. Not sure we have a luthier in my small town and I'm not sure how much I want to spend fixing a $210 guitar. The MusicNGear YouTube channel did a 1.5 hour review of this guitar and he had the same issue. Update 4/14. I sent the first one back and received #2 today. Everything that was wrong with the first, is fine with #2. The strings were really rough but are getting swapped out anyway. The frets are a little off, they touch the binding on one side of the neck but not the other. But really, for the price, an excellent guitar. Intonation is spot on, actions low, sounds great, fast neck. Too bad #1 had issues.

Leo Jaymz 1st Gen, Someone returned and I purchased for a song.
Was looking for a new axe to play, i play some bass and dabble on other instruments and like to record and make my own stuff. I really wasn't looking to go back to my local Guitar Center. Did a little research and came across this guitar from a friend. Then saw a video of another person playing it and commenting how nice it was for such an inexpensive guitar. Looked online and here on Amazon and they were out of the model and color i wanted Violet Flame and Violet Ocean. It sold out fast apparently for those 1st gen units. A week later i get notice while on amazon website and see one used marked returned unknown reason, but in original box with everything. Took a chance thinking minor things i can fix easy enough and setup is par for the course on most guitars anyway, and they(Amazon) have money back if it doesn't work so. Guitar arrived and the outside box didn't inspire hope if i am honest. I calmly opened it up taking my time and then got to the inner boxing and foam protection molded blocks. To my surprise it looked new, untouched. Gently picked it up and checked it for blemishes, none. Checked the neck, Seems straight and the frets smooth. The back of the neck was nice and smooth. Nut while plastic isn't junk plastic, its actually a decent quality for the type it is. I checked the fret board with scale and frets with gauge, it was all within spec. restrung it and tuned. Holy cow it is an easy no frills guitar to play. Most use pedal effects anyway and this single knob 3 switch is built for shredding and is just a joy to play. I paid no where near retail for it (embarrassed to say how little i paid). Absolutely love this guitar almost as much as i did my 1983 Aria Pro II Urchin Deluxe. I think this guitar has that type of potential , really. The 3rd gen models now come with cases and locking tuners to make them even better low cost options! Appreciate the detail that went into this guitar that was designed for entry level but plays and shows above its station. Obviously shipping a guitar can have an impact on your experience as it could arrive damage, i was lucky and didn't suffer that in this case and just want to be fair and honest with folks i feel i got very lucky with this purchase to get a nice instrument undamaged. Thanks for listening to my long winded and personal review.

Very Nice Guitar for the money, above average , plays well
First of all let me Say that the guitar made by Leo Jaymz for the price he's charging is a excellent guitar the wood has an excellent sound I'm not real big on the pickups but they don't sound bad at all fretboard a little bit high on the Frets but not too much to play plays very well no buzzing I've had no issues except, when I received this guitar it was packed very well in styrofoam but coming from Amazon it was put into a box five times the size of the guitar box no kind of padding in it so it got bounced around good I opened it and the guitar box itself had been stepped on as I posted in the pic which broke the styrofoam around the guitar which I did not take a pick of unfortunately, I sent it straight to my guitar tech to go over it he said everything was fine he had to reset the antonation and adjust the neck from he quoted someone must have stepped on it very disappointed that it would be shipped with no care whatsoever from someone and that Amazon would even box a guitar up and not put some kind of padding around it knowing what's in it so after $80 for my guitar tech to adjust everything I'm still happy with the guitar. But damn really people just walk on the guitar like it's trash?

High Quality, Low Price
What a great guitar! Especially at this price. Came very well packaged with a high quality cable and some allen wrenches for adjustment. Arrived almost perfectly in tune and in flawless condition. Beautiful Violet Flame finish, lots of nice touches that say this guitar should cost much more than it does, including the beautiful one of a kind headstock, and the binding around the body, perfectly blended in under the clear coat, and along the sides of the beautiful Rosewood fretboard. Jumbo ball and stainless steel frets are a perfectly aligned and very comfortable to use. Tuners work great and the guitar has an overall tight and precise feel to it. Volume knob and three way switch for the double humbuckers also feel like quality parts. The sound is clear and powerful, very strong pickups and responds very well to effects. Can sound like a classical guitar or a heavy metal machine. The neck feels very slender and easy to get your hand around. Everything works well including the tuners which are very precise. That's the biggest takeaway for me is that this is a precision made instrument, and whoever built it cared about what they were doing. I heard in a review video that Leo James is a real guy and I would like to personally say Thank You for an amazing guitar at a super low price. I don't know if these will be affected by tariffs but I would recommend buying one of these guitars asap even though it would still be a deal at a much higher price. I'm sure there is more I could say but I we'll leave it there and strongly recommend that you buy this guitar. I will definitely be looking at other guitars from this brand. Shipping was fast and arrived sooner than expected. Thank you. I love this guitar.

Big Disappointment. Doesn't live up to the hype!
I dig the bald shredder, so I decided to try the monsoon to have as a set bridge on stage. I normally use a BC Rich or Ibanez with floating bridge, sometimes a string breaks and I need to grab something fast to continue playing. I figured this would fit the bill. I guess it still will, with a ton of work. Not sure if I received a return or just got a super crappy guitar. I pulled it out of the box, and it was filthy. Next thing I noticed is a saddle on the bridge didn't even have the screw connected. The only thing holding it was the string. Next half of the frets aren't even pushed down all the way. Then I notice the crack in the neck pocket, high action, gritty dirty frets and the screws that hold the pickups were put in at an angle so you can't lower the pickups. Also the Bald Shredder said it was a thin neck, but THIS DOESN'T HAVE A THIN NECK!!!!! So if you are use to a BC Rich, or Ibanez wizard neck this is nothing like them. It is a fat D shape, not even a thin d. It's thicker than my 60's style Gibson les Paul's and almost the size of a 50's style Les Paul. So that was a huge disappointment. Not to mention there are a crap ton of scratches all over this guitar, including the neck. I had planned on having this on stage 2-3 times a week, I apparently planned wrong without a ton of work. I was hooked because the blue finish look very similar to my BC Rich Assassin and the great review I heard The Bald Shredder and even Max give on this guitar. This is definitely one of the worst guitars I've bought new in a long time except for one of the new Ibanez guitars I just got and the bridge wasn't even tightened down. If you read this Leo Jayms and would like to make it right let me know, cause a ton of people would have seen and heard this had it actually been a quarter as good as the reviews are. For anyone reading this, I am a working musician. This is what I do full time. I currently have 100+ guitars to compare this to at the moment. From cheap Amazon guitar to Gibson and Fender USA guitars. If you are looking for a decent shredder at a decent price, I would go with a Jackson. So far their quality has been pretty good overall. THIS GUITAR WAS DEFINITELY A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!

Don't buy it if you can't fix it
Some bad 1. The finish has buffer scuffs all over the body. Dulls what ever shine they attempted to put on it. Black specs under the clear coat. dimples in the clear coat around the pick up rings. 2. Half of the ball end frets are not seated fully. The ball ends of those frets are a full 2mm short of the side of the neck. It's prone to string roll off. My fret rocker loves this neck. It rocked at some point on every fret. Some across the full fret others toward just the edges. 3. Set up was super high because of the uneven frets. Tried to lower it and massive string buzz again due to the uneven frets. 4. Tuners are not smooth turning. The bridge saddles even at a lower action are almost at their full upward travel. I haven't even plugged it in yet to check electronics and intonation. Some good 1. The nut is cut pretty well. 2. Overall its not a bad looking guitar if you don't get close up. Here's my honest thought. If you're buying this for $200+ and expecting it to be a better guitar than one that is $150 save your money because it's not. If you know how to seat, level, crown and polish frets and don't mind buffing out the buffing scuffs. If you can change out the tuners, then it makes a great project guitar. I think if it were priced in the 180 range it would be a better value especially given that there are some really good sub $200 guitars that don't require this much work. I should send it back but I won't. I can make it playable with some work and even if the electronics aren't that good, I have no problem upgrading them. With some nice upgraded components it will still come out cheaper than buying a medium tier name brand in $600-$900 range. Let's be honest most of the medium to low end name brand is coming out of the same factories in China. They just have some better components and maybe an onsite rep doing spot audits for quality control. Leo Jaymes maybe not so much.
