Marvel Legends Series Marvel's Angel, Deluxe X-Men Comics Collectible 6-Inch Action Figure

Okay…where to start?? Well first off I like comic books. Not what they’re passing off today but the (and I loathe using this word) classic original books I grew up with that started it all!! And I also still like action figures! Since the original G.I. Joe to Mego Superheroes, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes to the original Kenner Star Wars, I’ve enjoyed buying certain figures and I’ve been buying the occasional Marvel Legends characters. I’ve been collecting all the representations of the 70s/80s X-Men as they release them (still waiting on a classic green and yellow costume Banshee to complete my Cockrum/Byrne era X-Men…are you listening Hasbro) and they FINALLY released a fantastic figure of the Avenging Angel!! I now have a complete original five X-Men: Cyclops (from the Dark Phoenix two-pack), Marvel Girl/Phoenix, Beast, Iceman and now Angel!! (Still waiting on an accurate original costume 5-pack! Are you still listening Hasbro??) On to the figure! This is an excellent figure with great poseability, extra classic head and extra hands in his red and white 70s Champions variant of the original blue and white costume from the Thomas/Adams era X-Men. The only drawback was the gloves and boots were yellow on the red version. But… don’t let that deter you!! Now…let’s get to the best part…the wings! Finally an Angel figure with a worthy set of wings! They aren’t bulky or static, they have a fantastic range of posing possibilities!! But not only that…the figure actually stands with the wings in multiple poses!! Can you believe that?! Definitely better than the static wings on the Angel in that funky Toys r Us “original” X-Men set they tried to pass off and WAAAAAY better than that Archangel figure from a few years back that was just garbage!! So…in closing…this is a fantastic figure that belongs in your X-Men collection. Don’t pass this one up!

After several years, Hasbro finally delivers what is their definitive figure of this character, or well, at least it will be until they get around to releasing a Deluxe figure of Archangel. Despite making use of an already known mold, it has a great finish (especially the sculpted face) and a good enough articulation to have fun posing it on display. I have seen some comments criticizing the old ab-crunch, however, this helps the figure to support the weight and balance of those huge wings. Which, by the way, make this figure totally worth the money with a great possibility that I'm sure will make your X-Men collection shine. If you're looking to complete the greatest team in Marvel Comics, this figure is for you and I recommend you go for it when you get a chance. Just make a big space in your display, because you'll need it.

When I was reading all of the bad reviews I was a little skeptical especially the one where someone received a knock off…. After once, I received the figure and took it out of the box I’d say it is a great figure. Some joints are definitely hard to move at the moment, but once I put it in a hot water, it should be able to move all of the joints on the wings move. I heard on one review that that was one of the issues but on this one that I got, I didn’t experience any joint issues. The face is painted nicely and the overall figure has really great possibility. The only downside with the one that I received is maybe some very small QC issues like a red dot paint on the arm and the wings has very little white paint on the feathers, but I can easily overlook the paint issues. If you yourself very skeptical, I recommend on buying it here. This will make a great gift for any collector or Christmas gift. Lastly, I did doublecheck the figure just to make sure that it wasn’t a knock off and it has all of the stamps that the Hasbro figures have and honestly, I couldn’t even tell if this was a knock off. If it is, this is a really good one.

My Angel figure looks great in person in hand and I haven't even matched him up with other figures yet. I've waited a long time for this one. I wouldn't give the paint job on the white part of his suite a 100. But once you stand him next to other figures, that should fade right into place. I remove my collectables from the boxes but still, I prefer the boxes to still be in a re-salable condition. And oh, look at this, pinless joints, oh this is Beautiful. This is about to become my go to Figure for a while. Figure... character, I mean wow.
