Nifty
Works as it should and would by from again! A+++

This works alright but not perfectly, radeye is better.
This is sufficient but not nearly as good as the radeye. It feels solid and has replaceable battery. It's readings are off compared to the (way ) more expensive radeye. It will work perfectly for your bug out bag but just don't expect the exact readings. If you want the exact readings spend $2000 on the radeye. This is definitely sufficient for reading radiation in your area and planning your route accordingly. like I said if you want exact readings you'll need a better model. 👍

Radiation Revelation but Software Surprises (and not the good kind)
The GQ GMC-800 Geiger Counter is a significant upgrade from the CMC-300E (which I also own), featuring a larger color screen, onboard graphing, and customizable alarms with vibration, flash, audio, and voice alerts. These enhancements make it a more versatile and user-friendly device for monitoring nuclear radiation. The device is a 10 out or 10 for sure and because the review is on the device itself I have given it 5 stars. However, as a Mac user, I encountered disappointments with the software. GQ's lack of robust Mac support is evident. While they do suggest GeigerLog, a free software project compatible with multiple platforms, it's a workaround rather than a solution. Taking a look at their PC software, it appears to be severely outdated, I borrowed a PC from a co-worker and we had trouble getting the USB drivers to install, and once we got the latest version of the software installed it was pretty basic and underwhelming and crashed the computer several times in the process. Overall, I'm pleased with the GMC-800's hardware performance but left wanting more in terms of software compatibility and data management. I also assume that I will need to find a PC in order to do firmware updates should those become available in the future.

Very cool tool to have!!
Very Accurate Geiger counter, very easy to use, small enough to fit into a pocket. It features a RECHARGEABLE BATTERY (which is awesome!) & has a very very long battery life on one charge. I would HIGHLY recommend this Geiger Counter.

Good at this price point, fun to use
I'm not an expert on radiation, but have worked in environments where we used dosimeters and Geiger counters. It's not surprising that so many mixed reviews, it probably just depends on what people are trying to use it for. This unit is inexpensive (and thus uses an inexpensive sensing tube) and tries to be very non-specific in it's range (unlike many pro units that are optimized for specific ranges).I assume most people who are interested in this are not using it in a professional capacity (pro units are way more expensive and require regular calibration and certification), so I think figuring out the accuracy of the unit for yourself and finding uses for it is actually part of the fun and can be very educational. My overall verdict so far is that it's not super-sensitive but it seems accurate at higher levels. The UI is a bit clunky but overall nice and interesting. For measuring items with lower emission levels you have to really pay attention to where the sensor is at and your distance.

I remember being taught to Duck & Cover... Do you?
Okay, I have to admit that when I saw this Nuclear Radiation Detector GQ GMC-800 Geiger Counter from the GQ Store on Amazon Vine I ordered it as a toy. I have absolutely no need for a Geiger counter, and don't really know anything about one. But hey, Amazon sells toys, don't they? so I'm reviewing this as a toy. It's like a puzzle, trying to figure out what it does, and googling things I don't know or understand. I'm learning. So it's and educational toy. I have no idea if the detector is accurate, but it doesn't matter much to me. If that annoys you, sorry. I'm giving this five stars because it's kept my attention for several days so far. Not all toys can do that. And if the zombie apocalypse happens, maybe I can use it to detect zombies.

Cheap material
Feels very cheaply made outer shell. Does not detect high radiation after the tube saturates with very high rates, shows zero. Not drop tested, but you get what you pay for.

Easy to use, sturdy, long battery life, bright screen/good resolution.
Picked this up to check a couple spots in the local area that had been Superfund sites, as well as to have "just in case". Very impressed with the wealth of features it contains in such a small package. It looks and feels well-designed. The screen is a good size, and bright enough in the daylight - my camera didn't do it justice, really. The measurements it takes are consistent but not "too" consistent to where it's not actually taking measurements. The battery is certainly long lived enough that you could go some time between charges unless using for hours at a time - it's also user-replaceable if need be, just pop in a new one. It comes with only a couple accessories, but they're useful; a quick reference card for radiation levels and a basic case that would protect it from scuffs but perhaps not drops. It's my first (last?) geiger counter but happy to have it and would recommend.
