Van Houten - Full-Bodied Warm Brown Cocoa Powder (22-24% cocoa butter) 1kg

For years we've been buying Van Houten Warm Brown Cocoa Powder, and never been disappointed. We chose this version because the cocoa imparts maximum flavour only without any bitterness. In a tall mug it's pure bliss, and an absolutely wonderful nightcap. Sometimes my husband adds a shot of Jamaican rum. It makes this particular Dutch cocoa taste truly decadent. Perfect!

I've always used Van Houten cocoa back at home (store bought) and I haven'g been deceived with thisnone either: il lends to an intense cocoa-brown colour, a deep and tasteful chocolaty bitterness and workd quite well into anything, be it baking, driking cocoa or even smoothie. i would recommend to sift the cocoa before using and, if possible, mixing it with little liquid so it doesnt produce lumps and yields an homogeneous end product.

18/11/21 Repeat purchase, a slightly sharp bitter taste not over sweet so a good choice for baking and chocolate drinks. 13-06-21 A repeat purchase, in the end I decided that I liked the sharper flavour of this product over the smaller supermarket offerings. It is also excellent value for money lasting me many months. As it is a very fine powder it needs to be kept in a well sealed container. Needed this to make my own very low fat hot chocolate drink. Have normally used a leading brands cocoa powder with low fat milk powder and sugar substitute. This cocoa powder makes a much lower fat drink but can't help feel some of the flavour has also gone. When reconstituted it is a warm reddy brown colour but it tastes and feels "thin" on the palette. However it is much lower in fat so you need to pay your money and make a choice. Good value for money.

Silky, chocolatey, intense cocoa powder. No comparison with the ones we buy at the supermarket. Absolutely recommended for all the chocoholics out there. Get it, and make your own drinks and your own chocolate with it. It's just Divine.

Proper cocoa

There is no doubt about the quality of this cocoa powder. It has the right level of alkalization that gives it a warm and well-rounded taste. I mainly use it to make my Hot Chocolate and Energy Bites recipes. Unfortunately, the price has increased in the past 2 years from £13.99 to £22.99. Due to my high consumption, (over 5 kg per year on average) I will have to find a more reasonably priced cocoa.

Used to make brownies. First time I've made them, and they came out excellent. This cocoa was perfect for this adding real depth of flavour and richness. Light years better than the cocoa you can buy in supermarkets. Next on the list is a chocolate cake the size of a small asteroid.

Das ist der beste Cacao und ich liebe diesen wie kein anderer. Früher hatte ich diesen immer in einer schönen Dose bestellt, die es nun leider nicht mehr gibt... zumindest seid einiger Zeit nicht mehr. Da auf den Dosn das nicht so ausführlich beschrieben war wie auf diesen Packungen, war ich mir nicht ganz sicher welcher es war und so kaufte ich diesen auf gut Glück - und es war der richtige :-) Es ist einer der besten Cacao, aber ich muss mal auch ganz ehrlich sagen.... der Preis ist bei den unteschiedlichen Packungen der "gleichen Sorte" doch schon sehr groß und teilweise auch unverschämt. Der Cacao ist ungesüßt und zum Backen ebenso zu verwenden wie auch als Getränk. Ich koche die Milch mit dem Zucker und dem Pulver 2 bis 3 mal unter ständigem Rühren aus und mache ab und an auch mal einen Schluck Sahne mit rein... je nach Lust und Laune. Diesen Cacao in der Tasse auf dem Bild, hatte ich jetzt mit 5 Teelöffel Zucker und 2 Teelöffel Pulver gekocht.... durch das mehrmalige aufkochen wird dieser dann immer etwas dicker, was mir dann auch besser schmeckt. Diese Mischung von mir war jetzt ( okay die Geschmäcker sind verschieden) gut süß und hatte einen sehr intensiven dicken schokoladigen Geschmack gehabt. Was mir an diesem jetzt nicht gefällt ist die Verpackung, den hätte man auch in einer schönen Metalldose versenden können oder gegen einen Aufpreis anbieten. Ansonsten volle Sternenzahl und klare Kaufempfehlung von mir!

Leider war die Verpackung des Kakaopulvers beschädigt, so dass die gesamte Amazon-Sendung bis in die kleinste Ecke mit Kakao "eingestaubt" war.
