This Connetix Pastel Starter Pack, 64 Pieces, is a great way to get started with magnetic tiles. The piece count is high enough to spur creativity without getting bored and opens the door for expansion to more sets. The most important feature to consider when choosing magnetic tiles is safety. Connetix tiles are made with food grade non-toxic plastic that is BPA, lead and phthalate free. The tiles are riveted together at the corners and are not sharp in any way. This Connetix Pastel Starter Pack includes six different pastel colors; and while they are not as bold as the rainbow colors, they are still quite beautiful. Each tile has a unique bevel that creates an almost concave center. I think this not only enhances durability, but also helps to maintain the clarity of the tiles. In my opinion, the magnetic strength of Connetix tiles is the best among all brands because they use the largest and strongest magnets. This allows for large, stable and secure builds. As for price, I think it’s important to consider it on a per tile basis. This set runs about $1.48 per tile, which is in line with other top brands. If you opt for a larger set, you will find that the price per tile will likely be less expensive. In general, magnetic tiles are not cheap. Connetix is a premium, top of the line brand, and as such, so is the price. As for compatibility, Connetix is compatible with Magna-Tiles, and likely many other off-brands. That being said, I recommend choosing a high-quality set like Connetix and investing in the brand. There are just so many different sets (ball run!) to branch out to from here. This set is Made in China, and comes in a nice, reusable cardboard box. It also includes an inspiration book with some ideas to get started. Overall, I have found Connetix to be my favorite brand of magnetic tiles. If you are looking to choose a magnetic tile and willing to make the investment, you simply cannot go wrong with Connetix.

My neighbors' kids in Germany had these Connetix tiles and I always wanted to play with the kids so I could try them. Well, I finally got a chance with this box. These are GREAT- they help with fine motor skills, creativity, geometry skills, building skills, problem solving. If you want to play, too, you can build a simple item and have your young one try to copy, then have them do the same for you. The colors are pretty and sparkle if you play near a window. The tiles are incredibly sturdy- I was not sure they would be. The magnets are strong. These are pricey, but so were all those dolls. These are the type of toy we should be encouraging our girls to play with. The boys usually go for them without needing any encouragement. I think a second box will be coming for Christmas! Edit 8/18/24: Nieces finally came for the weekend and had so much fun with these. They put some real effort into how to make 3D shapes that were not just rectangles. Their mother was surprised at how long these held the girls' attention and is considering adding some more pieces to this set to keep at my house as a special incentive to spend more time here. Favorite auntie!

Connetix is the flagship magnetic tile brand, with some of the best magnets and great color clarity. This specific set is my favorite starter set for people who are drawn to the more subtle colors offered by the Connetix line. While it might not seem like 64 pieces is worth the substantial price, this set is great because it provides the most USEFUL pieces. Getting eight large squares is amazing, as these are the most expensive pieces. Other pieces are provided in sufficient quantity for interesting builds and a compelling combination of colors. This is plenty for a beginner builder to make little houses, garages, ice creams, pizzas, or just patterns. If your kid loves these, I recommend expanding to the larger "creative" pastel pack, the pastel rectangles set, and maybe even the clear starter set (with essentially adds an extra color to this collection while also getting some of the limited use but compelling pieces like the hexagons. Overall, highly recommend this set!

My toddler loves building with this and is one of his more successfully long term toys. We’ve added this to an existing set and it’s a hit. So far super durable - I am almost paranoid about the safety of the magnets - and it’s withstood being flung down the stairs several times already with not even a crack.
