Lighter, Faster, Easier Hitch...That Works.
We tow a 2006 26-foot Forest River Wildcat camper with a 2010 Ford F-150 SuperCrew, 5.4l, 6-speed auto. The camper is 6,630 lbs. empty, and when the whole rig is loaded, it almost hits the towing limit of the truck, so this is not just a small SUV towing a cart with hay bales on it, like you may see in the youtube video. The camper is high-profile and is affected heavily by wind. We took it on a 9-state, 4,000-mile trip last year in a lot of wind, and I spent almost the whole trip with white knuckles, trying to keep the rig on the road. It drove like a hog on ice and about beat me to death. I had to slow way down several times so the sway wouldn't put us in the ditch. This year, I researched hard and long to find a good anti-sway device. I couldn't find anything decent that was compatible with the weight-distribution hitch I was already using, so since I had to buy a new hitch anyway, I finally decided to go with the Andersen. There were not a lot of reviews on it since it was fairly new in the marketplace, but everything I could find stressed the lighter weight and ease of hookup, and those concerns are more important to me the older I get. It took 11 days to arrive, but the shipping was free. Installation was easier than my old hitch. You do need a 5/16" Allen wrench, by the way. I drilled a hole to secure each outside setscrew for the brackets and cranked the setscrews as hard as I could, but couldn't get three full revolutions (as the instructions say) before my Allen wrench got twisted into a corkscrew. But I continuously check all the setscrews and they haven't loosened yet, and the brackets haven't budged. We took the camper on a 1,400-mile trip last month and were very pleased with the results, though I had thrown my old hitch in the back of the pickup in case of emergencies. The whole assembly weighs about 53 lbs and tucks into a box smaller than a breadbox when you aren't using it. Hookup is fast and easy, as is unhooking. Weight distribution was as good as my old hitch, and my wife was very pleased to find that it smooths out the bouncing very well. There was still some sway, but the hitch dampened it as designed and the white knuckles were a thing of the past. We drove on interstate, secondary, and gravel roads, through construction, through big city traffic, through wind and rain, with semis whizzing by us and pounding us with cross winds, and I never once had to slow down because of sway. I did have a glitch trying to register the warranty on the web site, but called the company and Dave gave me his email address and asked me to scan the form and send it to him, and was also very helpful discussing technical questions I asked about the design. So, the bottom line: good company customer service; a lighter, faster, easier-to-use hitch that does weight distribution, anti-sway, and anti-bounce and is, by the way, absolutely silent; and a lifetime warranty. At a price competitive with the big, complicated, clunky hitches. It's a good choice. 1/25/14 - An Update I felt the need to revisit my review after 18 months, and address the ease of connecting and disconnecting. I want to make it clear that the process itself is not really easier than using the weight distribution bars, because you do need to raise the front of the trailer to ease the strain and do some cranking on the nuts that hold the chains in the trailer brackets. It's still work, and a good, long-handled 1/2 inch drive ratchet is a good investment. However, and this is BIG...everything weighs a lot less than the big clunky hitches and take up less storage space, and there's no extra anti-sway bars to hook up or unhook. I've taken it on two more trips and it's still silent, comfortable driving, and still better than anything else I've seen out there, hands down. 4/29/15 - Another Update We took our camper out on another 4,000 mile trip last spring (2014), the same trip that caused us to buy this hitch in the first place. This time, it went great...very little sway or bouncing, and a huge improvement over the first time. The only problem was that when we returned home, the brake material that provides the sway control was starting to extrude above the bracket, around the cone of the hitch ball. There was also a groaning sound like rusty door hinges in a haunted house, every time we made a turn in a parking area. I sent an email and a picture to the company, and they responded within 2 hours to verify my address so they could ship the new brake material to me. They said it was a slightly different composite of plastics and should work better. They shipped it the next day by UPS and it was here in just a few days. I couldn't try it again right away because my camper was in the shop for repairs, which is a different, long, and painful story. It wasn't available for us to try out the hitch again until this spring, when we took it on a 1,200 mile trip. I'm happy to report that it's still working great, very little sway or bounce, even on the horrible highways of Louisiana, and once again absolutely silent. We've had it for almost 3 years now and are still very happy with it and with the excellent customer service we've gotten from the Andersen folks.

Great Product with Great Customer Service
I did extensive research before choosing the Andersen "No Sway Hitch System". After my experience using it to tow over 1,000 miles, I quickly became a big fan of this product and have cheerfully shared with anyone willing listen why I think it is a great performing hitch. It is light, easy to put into operation, and has improved my overall towing experience. I can also now share how great I think the team is that stands behind this product. I originally purchased the system with the 8" drop for another tow vehicle. The 8" drop worked great with my Nissan Titan but, was not quite right with my new tow vehicle, a 2015 Ford 4x4 F250. Prospective buyers need to carefully evaluate their particular mounting height requirements. The hole mounting locations of the 8" do not allow for mounting the hitch as close to the receiver as the 4" version either in the up or down position. Andersen sent me the 4" drop without charging me for it and I believe it will work perfectly. I doubt that you can find a better product with better Customer Service, Anywhere!

This IS what you have been lookng for!!
This product IS everything it is hyped up to be. I run a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 with the Cummins. I pull a 22'X8' enclosed Haulmark trailer. We purchased the trailer to haul dirt bikes, 4 wheelers and camping gear. My first couple trips with the trailer were very depressing. After I would reach my destination, I'd have white knuckles, hands would hurt from gripping the steering wheel so hard and I would be ready to sell off the trailer and swear I'd never pull it again. The sway was awful. Id' put all the weight up front with the front of the trailer low. Still bad sway, every time a car would come by the thing would begin to sway, let alone a semi. I hated pulling it and really had not experienced such horrible tow characteristics with any other trailer or camp trailer I had previously owned. On recommendation of some extended family I paid the premium price for this setup. I can honestly say that it is one of the best purchases I have ever made. It has reduced sway by about 98% for me. I don't even think about it any more. I tow the trailer running 70-75mph down the freeway like a normal person now. My wife and kids can actually talk to me now while we are driving. We can enjoy the trip. I'm telling you, if you are pulling and experience sway, you want to look very closely at the Andersen no sway system. IT WORKS. I don't understand the very few reviews that I have read with negative comments. DO NOT let these reviews "sway" your decision making process. This system works. Bite the bullet, pay the extra money and get what works. You wont be disappointed. A couple tricks I found: If you are backing into a tight spot that you cannot get the tow vehicle straight with the trailer once the trailer is in place, make sure to disconnect the chains before you back in, somewhere where you can make sure the tow vehicle and trailer are straight. Additionally, if you have a vee nose trailer, get some tongue length dimensions before ordering the Andersen. The chains on the Andersen system have to maintain a minimum length and only so many links may be taken out. I got lucky, I was able to take out the maximum number of links that Andersen allows and it got me to the right length that I needed. I am thankful for smart people who go out on a limb, invent a product they think will be useful and put if out there for others to benefit from. Thanks Andersen!

Very light WD hitch. Very easy to install if you follow the instructions. Attach trailer to hitch ball before tightening two lock nuts make sure your vehicle and trailer is level. Make sure to load the trailer before do the exercise. You may have to adjust the height of the ball with the tongue weight of the trailer.
