You can tell it's not Lego
The only reason I am rating it as high as I am is because of it's 8$ price tag. It functions well enough providing way more torque than official lego medium motors, but at a slower speed. But the color is off with the dark gray being a couple shade darker than the lego version. What really bothers me is the consistency of the holes. Some hole the black technic pin snaps in normally, other holes feel loose, then others feel tight. worst part is the actual motor drive. It's really loose so you have to use some other method to keep the rods from coming out of the motor. But... it's 8$, I think I can live with these drawback for that price.

Good strong motor, works with other motors sets that look the same
I grabbed this motor as an addition to a large motor set I had previously purchased. This motor appeared identical to one that came in the larger set and ,despite having a different brand name, I suspect it’s the same motor. It’s strong and worked with every battery pack item I tried it with. If you need another motor to build with, this one works and won’t break the bank.

Decent "brand" replacement, axle does not fit well
My son uses a lot of branded motors in his builds and we decided to try this one out as the price difference was significant. My further review is based on his observations. He's 12 and pretty ingenious with this stuff so I feel like his opinion is sound. It is a bit stronger, but slightly slower motor than the branded counterpart. Where the axle would insert it is not a snug fit, but it works. Technic pegs fit in those spaces properly. He would recommend this motor.

Good motor with lots of torque
This is a good motor for mechanized projects. This motor isn't as high RPM as some other motors, but seems to have more torque. This is good for projects like cranes, and others that needs slow, steady effort with some strength behind it. The build quality seems pretty good; It connects well with other standard pieces. My electrical switches work with it as you would expect. This is a good motor for a variety of projects. Five stars.

Works as intended
I tested this motor with MOULD KING M-0019 Powered Module, and it worked flawlessly. It worked just as the OEM and the speed control worked too with the analog stick.

Pretty good, except...
I got this Power Functions XL Motor Mechanical Group 8883 in hopes it would be comparable to the now discontinued 8882 motor. The motor came in a branded plastic bag, inside a small bubble envelope. The motor is colored like the "name brand" ones, not reversed grays like the pictures show. The video in the listing shows the correct color, based on what I received at least. The cord is a softer material than the the 8882, and about 1 stud longer. One obvious difference between this motor and the "name brand" one is this one has a "whine" to it when running. And, while the technic holes hold pins well, the axle hole doesn't hold onto an axle AT ALL. This is the only thing I really dislike about it so far. Also not sure why they used 8883 in the description when this is a 8882 clone.
