It's About Time! (MathStart 1)

Good Book ... But May Be A Little Scary
This book, in one reading, helped my 5 year old understand the concept of telling time, to the hour ... even weeks later! The author provides time examples for 24 hours, to include AM and PM. To me, that bit of repetition was boring, but my son didn't seem to mind. Being an educator, myself, I understand the value of repetition, so it served its purpose. Be warned: During the PM hours, the story introduces monsters that come out at night. If you plan to introduce the concept of time to young ones for early engagement, this is something to consider ... some chidren may find that part of the story to be scary. There's another reviewer who goes into more detail about this. Make sure to read that in order to fill in any blanks I had.

Great Math Read for the Classroom
I purchased this book for my first grade classroom. We work on telling time to the hour and half hour. This is a great math read to use for telling time to the hour. Recommend!

Simple fun Intro to Time!
We adore these Math Start books as living books in our elementary education to teach math concepts! The physical application of concepts in the story helps me as an educator come up with better activities to apply new concepts! The illustrations are beautiful and the books are to the point and uncomplicated. Love these as a resource to introduce new units! This particular book is a little simplistic for the Time unit but to be fair it is a Math Start level 1 book.

Occultic themes throughout entire book
The pictures I found of the inside of the book showed the child going to school, learning time, with a clock on the wall. That was maybe 1 or 2 pages. The majority of the book was "monster play." The lights go out, the shadows on the wall are shapes of witches. Then the monster comes out at night, 11pm, by 2-3 am, witching hour, he has brought in "friends" and they are dancing and twirling til 5am. The kid gets one hr of sleep before starting a new day "to do it all over again." This book is literally something someone would use to program kids ahead of time before trafficking them. Would not even give 1 star if i could. But since amazon requires it, i will for the fact that the analog clock and every hr is used. That's it. Could be a good concept if occultic ideas were not used.
