Unreliable and short battery life
Worked fine for the first month or two; then it started dying after just a couple of days (of normal daily use for a few minutes)-But the worst part is that the scale is utterly unreliable; doesn't measure correctly with the same items on different tries. This is particularly noticeable in smaller weights (~20gr) which is the main reason I got it for (espresso making), and where exact weights are important.Would return if I could; but at least I can advise you to stay away.

Accurate Scale
We use it to measure out our espresso beans. It holds a charge well and seems to be very accurate.

Broke after a month
The scale makes an annoying beep when you press the buttons and you can’t have anything on it when turning on, otherwise it will give you an error. Also did not recharge when plugged into the wall and now does not turn on. Just in time for the return window to have closed. Second Amazon Basics product I have purchased that had quality issues.

Confusing auto timer mode. Poor tactile experience with buttons.
I bought this scale because it has an auto timer mode. Even after reading and trying to make sense of the instructions, and trying to play around with it, I could not reliably get the auto timer mode to work. To add to the frustration, the scale has auto tare function that essentially resets your scale because it thinks you are trying to use the auto timer function. Basically the programing assumes that, 1st you will place your coffee apparatus, 2nd you will add coffee, 3rd you'll add water. But if the timing of the steps isn;t exactly right then the auto timer mode will not kick in. If this sounds confusing, thats because it is. Another annoyance is that the scale is made of two parts, the top and the bottom, with the buttons being incorporated into the top (which is where you weigh things), so you cannot tell if you are pressing the buttons at all. They are pretty sensitive, so you have to train yourself to only rest your fingers on the button. But because of this, you cannot tell if the button was pressed, and or how long you should wait for the scale to turn on or change modes etc. If you press them too hard, I worry that over a period of time the sclae calibration may not remain accurate.Overall, I would not recommend this scale for use as an espresso scale. It is probably just fine as a food scale, and did seem to be fairly accurate. But there are other bigger, simpler, and cheaper scales that probably work better for food or other uses.

Not responsive enough for coffee beans, let alone ground coffee or water
The headline is regarding the second of these scales I ordered, but I'm going in chronological order in the review. The first of these that I received took over 4 hours to fully charge (the display indicates full charge when finished) - I know because it sat charging on my desk right in front of me while I worked on my computer. I unplugged it, and it wouldn't turn on. So, I plugged it back in, and it indicated it wasn't charged. Another several hours went by. It worked (or at least turned on) when it was plugged in, but it is supposed to be wireless. It had good reviews, so I thought it may be a one-off and contacted the seller who wanted to impress me with their quality control (I got the sense that the seller was not taking me seriously) but told me to return it for a new one, which I did.The second one held a charge, but is not responsive enough to weigh out coffee beans. Meaning that, adding beans slowly to the container that I had on the scale, the displayed weight was 2-4 seconds behind the weight of the beans, causing me to think I didn't have enough beans in the cup, and then the weight would jump to beyond what I wanted. Pull beans out with tweezers, 1 at a time, no change in weight until 4-6 beans have been removed and the weight is too low. I returned it and will not be getting another.A minor annoyance, but something that may bother others more than it did me, is that the silicone pad that goes on top of the scale has a lip on only one of the 4 sides - not on 2 or 3 sides, to hold it centrally on the scale - 1 side.

I really like this scale overall
I ordered the “Digital Coffee Scale 5kg0.1g, Pour Over Drip Espresso Scale, Kitchen Scale with Timer, High Precision Coffee Scale with Auto Tare, Rechargeable Waterproof” to review and to use in my kitchen, mainly for coffee brewing pre-measuring tasks. I measure my beans by weight, not by scoop. I actually prefer to measure as many recipe items by weight as possible to be more precise and to avoid having to dirty so many volume measuring devices. This Digital Coffee Scale has many pros and only a few cons. First, I really like that it’s rechargeable because I hate having to change batteries. I like the level of precision it measures although it sometimes takes several seconds for very small amounts to register as additional weight. The product page states that this is due to the scale not being level and also mentions something about touching all four corners which I haven’t tried yet. I also like that the beep tone can be turned off as it’s quite loud. I somewhat do not like that the sensitivity of the power button. I keep the scale out on the counter and if I just touch it to move it, it turns on. I was even working with a sheet of aluminum foil and it turned on when the foil touched it. There is also an auto-tare function which also turns on unintentionally sometimes and I can never remember how to turn it off and I want it off because I do not prefer using it. This scale has several extra functions so just be prepared to learn all of the button presses to turn them on/off. Otherwise, I really like this scale overall. 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️– Average to Above Average – At least what you would expect based on the Product Page. Maybe a bit more. A solid product.
