This was easy to cut and add in on our pinewood cars. If you are lacking a little weight in your ride, this is the perfect fix. I would not use if you are needing considerable weight. For that a metal piece would be better.

We haven't had our pinewood derby race yet, but we have added some of these weights to the car. The only problem I had was that these were exactly 3/8", so I had to drill a slightly bigger hole in order to get them inside the car. My biggest drill bit is 3/8", so I had to play around with tilting it, and holding it around the side to try to enlarge the hole. If the hole is too tight it was difficult to remove the weight cylinder. The cylinder was easy to cut to size using an exacto knife. I like that it is non-toxic. I had a little of the rod sticking out of the car and could use the blade adjacent to the car to trim the excess. Our car needed about 2.25 - 2.5 ounces added, so I liked that this came with 3 ounces instead of 1 or 2. I drilled 2 holes from the back of the car into its center, 1 hole from the left side to the right side a little in front of the rear wheel axle, and I drilled an extra hole from the bottom and didn't go all the way through the top of the car. I will add additional weight in this extra hole at check-in until we reach the maximum of 5 ounces.

We used these, as suggested, for a pinewood derby car. Most cars are going to require adding a fair amount of weight (1.5 oz or more). This product requires a LOT of volume to add that much weight. I think we used the majority of 3 sticks. These should probably be used in conjunction with denser weights as a means to fine tune the weights, rather than on their own.

We’ve been doing pinewood derby for the past seven years. This is the first time I purchased this item. It was so much easier to use as a weight. You could put it wherever you want it or just stick it on top. The adhesive portion held it in place. Definitely high-quality And great value. I wish I would’ve been doing it for previous years.

I flattened out the weights and sealed them into a pocket with adhesive and putty. The car weighed out perfect. Very happy with the product. Now we're off to the races.
