Review for Rhino 60 PSI compact 45 degree tire pressure gauge
I got one of these gauges to keep in my toolbag in my 4Runner, and being the skeptical type, I figured that for less than $17 it would be rather cheap feeling and maybe not the most accurate, but I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived and had some heft to it. The exposed parts appear to be genuine brass and are heavy, and the gauge housing is covered in a dense rubber cover to protect it from drops. It comes with a nice drawstring bag to keep it in to keep the plastic dial face from getting too scratched up (hey - it's just under $17 - you want glass, go spend $50 on something else). The tip that you press onto the valve stem is at 45 degrees, but it swivels, so if your wheels have the valve stem towards the center of the barrel of the wheel you can rotate it to allow for better reading, or if the wheel that the tire is mounted on that you are trying to read is rotated such that the valve stem is at an odd angle, you can adjust the tip so that you can easily see the dial as well. The indicators, numbers, needle, and even the Rhino logo are glow-in-the-dark, so you just expose it to a bright light source such as a headlight for several seconds and it will glow brightly enough to see very easily for quite a while if you are using it in dark conditions. As far as accuracy is concerned, I was figuring it would be within a pound or two, you know, close enough to be within the ballpark to know that you have about the right pressure to be safe and have your tires be well maintained, and any discrepancy between your car's TPMS system and the gauge would simply be something that could be ignored. Reading "calibrated", ANSI this, accurate that, sounded like a bunch of marketing BS to me, especially at this price point. However, I had the opportunity and curiosity to pressure-check some tires with 6 (six) of these puppies, and I was expecting exactly what I stated above - each gauge being around the same pressure, and among the 6, to read several slightly different pressures. But no! I kid you not. Each and every one of them read the SAME EXACT PRESSURE except for one, which read low by about 1/4 PSI. Mine was not the one that read low. My luck is such that I usually would be the one. Thankfully not this time, not that the 1/4 PSI would matter much. Color me impressed Rhino! It's important to note that air pressure gauges, hence tire pressure gauges, are most accurate at mid-scale, so if you're a typical automobile owner whose cars call for tire pressures between 30 & 40 PSI, a 60 PSI model is what you want. Don't be a showoff and buy the highest capacity tire pressure gauge you can find so you can stand around with your friends saying "Well, MY gauge reads up to 200 PSI!". You're being an idiot. If your 200 PSI max gauge reads 32 PSI it could be 26, it could be 38. You'd never know. Those of us with a 60 PSI rated gauge calibrated to ANSI B40.1, it might read 31, it might read 33. If you've got one in a group of 6 that read identically, chances are you've got one that's pretty close to bang-on.I'm happy I gave this Rhino pressure gauge a try. It's a keeper.

AWESOME!
Even if your car has a Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) system, it's a good idea to have a hand held Tire Pressure Gauge of your own. And this system from Rhino USA is simply EXCEPTIONAL in every way. It's heavy duty and even comes with its own nylon bag to store it in.Rhino USA is a small, family owned business and I really enjoy supporting small businesses in my home country. It is designed in the US, but manufactured in China. Still, the craftsmanship and quality of parts is exceptionally high. I chose the Analog version. It may be old tech, but it doesn't require batteries and I know I can count on it to work reliably for many years. The gauge itself and all the parts which connect to your tire pressure valve are made of brass, which will never corrode or degrade. The dial is glow in the dark, if you need to check your tire pressure at night (I'm guessing they use luminescent paint on the markings on the gauge). It has an air release valve, so you can actually push it into your tire valve and remove it and the pressure it read will remain, until you press the air release valve. And if you find your tires are overinflated, while attached, you can press the air release valve to remove air easily. This is 0 - 75 PSI, but they offer this in 0 - 60 PSI as well. I chose the 0 - 75 PSI version as our cars do have spare tires and they are always inflated to a higher PSI than the standard tires on a car. I also like the braided 14 inch hose, which makes it so much easier to take a Tire Pressure reading. This only cost $20 and for the price you get an exceptionally made Tire Pressure Gauge, designed and tested in America and sold by a small USA Company. The quality simply can't be beat!Ps: I actually bought two of these puppies, one for each car in our household.
