I took it out of its box, plugged it (via an adaptor) into my 2017 13" MacBook Pro, and performed a complete installation of Office 2016 for Mac.From start to finish, the whole operation took 12 minutes, of which 9 were spent on the installation. I'm someone who can remember the days when installing a complete copy of Microsoft Office on a PC took hours of fumbling with floppy discs and muttering more than a few swear words ......I needed this drive for a specific purpose and wanted one with USB 3 speed, so when this one popped up in a Lightning deal it seemed a no brainer to hit the buy button. It appears well made - these external drives are nowadays built to be as slim as possible so most will never fall into the "robust" category - and was certainly fit for my purpose. It's now back in its box and probably won't be used again unless I buy some music CDs but it's good to know it's there should I ever need it.Based on my experience I would certainly recommend this product for light use. If you're someone who uses an external DVD drive on a regular basis, however, it might be better to look for one which is more robust. And thicker. And heavier. And more expensive.

Worked once with my macbook pro, but hasn't worked since. Won't recognise the drive and the dvd door won't stay closed. Pretty sure its gone faulty.

Slightly, and slightly disconcertingly, noisy in operation. However functions perfectly well, and is very compact and of apparently good build quality.

This is a great DVD Drive. I plug this into my laptop because it does not have a DVD drive - I replaced this for an SSD for faster speeds. This looks very stylish and does the job it's supposed to do.Strong cable comes with it too which is very durable so will last a long time.Would definitely recommend this.

Full Marks to Amazon for refunding a previous purchase of a similar item that had gone astray, thus allowing me to purchase this. It is fit for purpose and works fine.

Plug and play. Worked first time with my Mac. Good colour match. No problems. Good value for money.

Terrible product. I ordered 2 of these drives - one would not work at all as it kept disconnecting from PC and the other the front fascia kept detaching. ZERO for quality - ZERO for functionality. Useless product. I binned both of these drives as I live overseas and it would have been too costly to return.

Required due to failure of drive on lap top. This drive unit did exactly what was required. It is easy to set up and use, a really good product. Service was excellent and arrived before initial delivery date. At all times I was kept updated as to when the product was to be delivered.
