limitations of the tracker-added up date to my first review
I purchased this mainly to give me an alert before my dog manages to escape from my land.Despite re-fencing she still manages to find a way out.Unfortunately, the geo fence system does not react quickly enough and there is a delay of several minutes before an alert pops up on the app. The website is misleading and it isn't until you purchase the tracker and read the info booklet that you are made aware of the delay. I contacted Weenect and they informed me that they are changing their adverts. It was supposed to have a fully charged battery. Battery was not fully charged but I didn't realise this and thought I was doing something wrong. I eventually decided to risk charging the battery. I charged the battery and went through online process to acivate tracker. The next day the tracker was still not working. I contacted weenect and the problem was that the sim hadn't been activated(not something I could do). Anyway I finally got the tracker working. I find that the way of turning on the tracker is very fiddly. The silver button is small and the blue and red leds next to it (which you need to be able to see flashing) are obscured by my finger. Also it is difficult to see if they are flashing in daylight. (this could just be my eyesight!). If it is cloudy the gps signal is weak(that isn't necessarily Weenect's fault - just something you need to be aware of in the UK)and the signal drops out in wooded areas. Also the weenect site states that once you have bought their subscription plan there are no additional costs - however, potentially there are. I have a pay as you go phone purely for use with the tracker. I couldn't understand why I had no credit left as I hadn't made any calls. I realised that I was being charged for mobile data use. Which I can only assume that this was when I was logging on to the weenect site. This may not be a surprise to regular phone users , but it was to me, as I thought, "no additional cost" meant just that. Again I contacted Weenect and they stated that they would amend their website. Every time I have contacted weenect I have got a prompt response.Having said about all the negative things - when it is working well - it is very good as a locator of escapee dogs. The geofence didn't alert me quick enough and my dog got out. We could see where she was on the app and were able to drive to exactly where she was - rather than not knowing which direction she had gone. So, as long as you are aware of the limitations of the tracker - it is still a good thing to have - just don't rely on it to alert you to prevent your dog escaping. (ps I've done loads of training with my dog but once she gets the scent of a deer/fox etc - she gets cloth ears!)This is an updated review. I have down graded from 3 * to 2*.The tracker started playing up in August 2017. Wouldn't charge properly. Lights wouldn't come on, then I couldn't turn it off. Although red light came on - it wouldn't connect to GPS even on a clear, sunny day. Finally contacted Weenect and they asked me to send it back to them. This I did and they confirmed receipt on 18.9.17. I am still waiting for a replacement to be sent to me, despite being informed that a replacement would be sent by 24.9.17. I contacted them again to find out what had happened, to be informed that they could not tell me when I would get my new tracker as they hadn't figured out the issues with the original tracker. There clearly is a problem with the tracker - it had been working fine for 5 months - I do understand that they have to make sure that problem has not been caused by misuse - but I haven't misused it and Weenect have had plenty of time to check this. Will give them one more chance, as, at least they are contactable and have always replied to my emails - but I have lost confidence in the product. I have also paid for the app, which I haven't been able to use for over a month.

Great product for us
I think the Weenect is a great product. My Setter loves to run and hunt in the forest so she could be close by but not visible or some distance away. This tells me if I need to whistle her back or not. Sometimes it may take a minute or two to get a recent position but that is rare. All in all very pleased with its location capability and I really enjoy looking at the distance and speed information at the end of the walk!

Never worked properly - on the odd occasion that it actually started tracking it kept losing the signal. I Was told by Weenect that I would need to send it back to France to get it reset and to check why it wasn’t working. Sent it just after Christmas have heard nothing. Very disappointing product, especially as I made the mistake of paying for two years to the subscription service ...

Five Stars
Great little bit of tech. Fits on my border terrier no problem and she dosn't mind it at all.

Useful but not very.
Not reactive enough, and too fiddly
