Simple, affordable, and effective
They're simple, they're easy to put into place, they're easy to use (if you can kick with your instep, then there you go), and they really don't attract anyone's attention, especially if you're wearing black shoes (they just blend right in visually). The only gripe I have is that the somewhat sharp, pointy tips are something you need to be wary of in everyday life, as more than once I've uncomfortably poked or scratched myself with them while putting my shoes on/taking them off or if I tuck a foot under myself while sitting in a chair. They kind of snag on things sometimes, and again they're kind of pokey, so be careful around playful pets or kids or whatever.Otherwise, these are something you can easily put on your jogging shoes and have immediately at the ready for defense against aggressive dogs or humans. Likewise, you could always wear these if you go to the bar and you either can't legally or just don't want to carry something like pepper spray or whatever as insurance against rowdy drunks.

Excellent within a narrow spectrum
Tested in some altercations. They work well. Quality product.Pros: They do fair damage. Good for lighter distracting blows to the lower legs and especially kneecaps. More powerful strikes are possible to do greater damage. On hard surfaces most of the return energy is distributed and padding under the laces takes care of most of that. They're longer and increase reach so you can get more and better result from quick and otherwise not damaging kicks. Not bad for stand up grappling and can aid in controlling opponent.Cons: Higher kicks get bound in jean and other trouser material. They can do more damage than intended to soft tissues. Because they're longer, they seem to be intended more for striking. The length combined with the narrow base give you less leverage and you have to rely more on pain compliance which doesn't always work for certain types of opponents. On the whole, they're hard and tough and the design make them fairly damaging. Be sure that you need them for that purpose. As a self-defense product they're very good. A strike to a soft area in the lower extremities, typically the groin, will certainly do some damage and cause pain in a much more efficient manner than shoes alone.

A good deal for a little more peace of mind.
This makes me feel safer when I go jogging by myself. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who knows a little kickboxing.Pros:If you kick an attacker it will definitely hurt them! It's a sturdy plastic. It's not going to break easily.Cons:It may also hurt you if the tongue of your shoe isn't very padded. It's pretty bulky. If you have small feet you might have to tie this over your laces instead of woven in with them.Overall I'm really happy with it! I might buy more in another color.Keep in mind you're only getting one so lace it onto whatever foot you're most comfortable kicking with.

These will HURT your assailant, but depending on your shoe's design, these might require some karate skills or are plain useless
First of all, SELF DEFENSE ONLY, if you want to go around hurting people with these for fun, seek help.I put these on my boots and spray painted them tan, so they kind of "blend" well. All I can say is, you really need to do a sidesweep type of Karate kick for these to be effective if the laces on your boots, like on mine, are so high that you'll try to be making contact with your assailant's leg (or whatever) with the upper part of your foot which arguably is harder (and takes longer to set up for that type of kick) than doing a quick front kick. Now, that's not to say this product is flawed, it does the job, it WILL hurt, but at least for now my concern is, it's really the fact that my boots are not designed like the ones in the photo which are closer to the toes, and I'm no karate master, but it's simple to realize that when you try to kick someone, you're more apt to make contact with the lower part of your foot and perhaps your toes, as opposed to the area closer to your ankle; whether that's "bad form" or not, I can't be the judge, but trying to use these on a tree, I found myself actually being brought back to Tae Kwan Do class and using my hips to put more force into the kick in order to make the desired contact: kubakickz --> tree. Why I'm saying this at all is, I feel we all (even we former martial artists - white/yellow belts highest level included) we revert to doing "lazier" kicks outside of the dojo, especially in a tight situation, close quarters; if an assailant is coming after you, how much time do you really have to get into a proper stance and do a "hip twist powered kick?" I can see myself kicking an assailant but I don't seeing myself (or the assailant letting me) get into a karate stance before he slashes my throat. So what's the alternative, a front kick? That would negate having the kubakickz at all because I'd be making contact with the soles or the tip of the boot.In the end, I'll give these 4 stars because if you have the time to set up and get a kick in with these, full force, right in the sweet spot of where these kubakickz are on your boot, you WILL DO DAMAGE to your assailant, and I think that's the main point. My point is, if your laces are higher up on your shoe/boot than normal, you might not have the ability to even use these in a life or death situation and still you might in a split second think "let me try these kubakicks" and try to effectuate some sort of kick with them and fail because you wasted precious milliseconds on setting up to do some sort of "good formed" kick augmented with these things. At least that was my first impression when I put them on my boot (as low as possible) and remembered how seldom my Yellow Belt Tae Kwan Do training helped me when I was in fights in the past and had to defend myself any which way I could, but that's the rub, what's most likely to happen, I just don't see myself getting in the types of "kicks" I'd need to use in my next sticky situation to actually stop my assailant before he gets in his shots.

Great Idea
This item is made of some really hard plastic and each stub is prolly about a inch. I think it is a must have item for an officer. i know in the past I have fault with someone and kicked them in the leg and yeah, they buckled but had no regret or fear of next kick. This item properly secured in your boot laces will deff make them feel the kick more and fear the next. I dont think the stubs would puncture a person or draw blood but they will most certainly feel the kick with a more lasting effect. My boots I wear on duty is black and has the thin rope laces so I used the holes in the item and threaded the laces through the two corner holes at the bottom of the item. makes for a real secure fit and I dont feel it when I walk. Great idea for a inexpecsive item that could save someones life from an attacker.Note: This item will help officers to TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS!!!Jerry (NC Officer)

Very strong and probably very painful
I haven't had to use these, and hopefully I never will, but I feel confident that if I do, they will do the job just fine. I pressed them into my own skin just to have a feel, and even that light effort hurt, so I can only imagine when they feel like launched with force into someone's shin or groin!I have them laced into my walking boots. Just having them on me makes me feel a bit safer and less helpless when out and about by myself. The clear colour is actually very noticeable, so I just 'painted' them with a black magic marker. Voila! Hardly noticeable now on my boots. If I can get a hold of another set (a lot of American products are hard to get in the UK, and/or super expensive), I will buy them for another pair of shoes so I don't have to unlace and relace when I want to wear different shoes.I recommend that every woman have at least one pair of these!

5 stars
Very nice and lightwueight but I feel like you got a weave your shoelace through the holes and through the spikes around the spikes to really get them to fit on your shoe firmly without them rocking side to side or up and down and that also has a little bit of additional padding to your foot cuz if you kick something with these on it will kind of hurt it's something that you should get used to but whatever you're hitting feel that pain a hundred times more
