Our last one lasted more than 13 years
My husband came with this toaster. It was the only truly superior kitchen item he came with. He had some other kitchen gadgets for his bachelor lifestyle, most of which eventually got donated because everything I picked was better. But this toaster was absolutely everything anyone could want or need in a toaster. You could put a piece of toast in and it would come out toasted - every time. This toaster never gave us any trouble. It lasted 13 years after I met him. He can’t remember how long he had it before that. We were so satisfied with its ability to toast bread reliably that we replaced it with one exactly like it when one side finally stopped popping up when it was done. Notably, the other side was still fine. We donated it to a friend who assured us she never needs to toast four pieces of toast at the same time anyway. I bet it will keep on going until the energizer bunny finally runs out of juice. In another two decades we’ll be buying another exactly like it I guess. It’s a really decent toaster.

Even toasting
The odor is really bad when first used. (toxic) Just to get the smell out. I recommend toasting a few pieces of old bread before using a piece of bread or bagel you are going to eat. One last thing it does not toast evenly. But I like Kitchen-Aid products because they last longer than other products. I am happy with the way my toasters look, and its function is the best of all. I also like the fact that the back of the toaster has a tray/trays.

An $80 toaster? really? and yet totally worth it.
We needed a toaster and honestly I bought it because it's art deco style toaster and we live in a really art deco house. BUT not only does it look great just sitting on the counter but it makes GREAT toast. Browned on all sides, not burnt, has a "beep" to tell you it's done, has the lift up lever so you don't burn your fingers.I took some heat from the spousal unit initially for spending $80 on a toaster, but all has been forgiven. It's a great toaster.

Cheap, not worth the money!
My 19 year old $100 Kitchen Aid stainless steel toaster stopped holding the bread down. Hubby tried to repair but parts are no longer available. Purchased this thinking it would be a good replacement. Well let me tell you it is so light weight and the heat elements only turn a light red (not too hot) not bright red like my old toaster. It had a weird bell and blue lights, but just was too flimsy for me. I returned it. Did purchase the more expensive side model at $190 with tax, returned that as well as it didn’t toast the toast unless it was put down twice. Total garbage!

So nice I bought it twice
I had this toaster for years. Use it every day. Finally needed to replace. Bought a cheaper brand which was horrible. Got so hot on outside was afraid to keep. Returned and purchased this one. Love it.

Works well or bread and bagels!
The only thing about this toaster that I don't love is the warning bell to tell you that your toast is done; it sounds like your smoke detector is going off. We've gotten used to it but it was a little jarring the first couple of times. If you have a light sleeper or a baby in the house, be warned!
