Yes, it says 9’, but…
It’s easily configurable for my 6’8” (80”) doorframe! When I first unpacked the kit I had a terrible, sinking feeling, that I purchased an inappropriate item. Upon perusing page four of the instruction booklet, I was reassured that (by combining included components) 80” was no problem whatsoever! I believe that the kit is packaged in the nine foot configuration because it is nice and compact, fitting three 3’ sections in the excellent, included satchel, while leaving room for the additional brackets, bradawls, etc. The only aspect of using the system, that I wish was explained, is that any pre-existing doorstop (on the hinge side) must be removed. In hindsight, it’s obvious, but I wasn’t expecting that much deconstruction… to be able to take advantage of this wonderful kit. Oh, and one last tidbit - If you purchase trend’s router, for use with the But Hinge Template Kit, don’t concern yourself with dust-collection. I’m sure, in other situations, the attachment is functional, but, configured for Hinge Routing (with the Guide Bush and ½” bit), there is absolutely no gap which would allow for sufficient dust-collecting suction. All-in-all, I had a great time getting acclimated to the system, and hanging my first door… and can hardly wait to upgrade the rest of our doors!

Works well once you figure it out
The directions are horrible, but thankfully, after talking to someone in tech-support overseas, I was able to figure it out. The gentleman was very helpful and even did video chat with me through WhatsApp. If I had any critiquing to do, it would be better directions and better videos of showing how to assemble the jig and a way to be able to hold it up to the top of the jamb And set all the positions on each of the hinges at the same time. It is very difficult to do and is almost a two person job. The wheels you turn to tighten the positions are not very user-friendly. I saw a video on their website that shows an area for an Allen Key to be able to be used as leverage but unfortunately, the one I bought does not contain that so it is very difficult to spin and tighten/loosen. If you don’t hold the metal bar at the top tight while you’re adjusting everything to sit on these little nubs, it would be very easy to mess it up and route it wrong.

Very nice hinge jig with one small revision
We do a lot of slab replacement into existing frames. This jig is one of the nicer we have found. Very easy to use once set up is made. Like anything else it may take some fiddling to get things dialed in but once there it is very efficient. The one change I made though was to take the round aluminum spacers (that go up again the jamb) to a machine shop & had them milled down to 3/16" thick from the 1/4" thick. At least where we are, the casing reveal is not always 1/4" & this gives more flexibility

Good Concept but very difficult
The instructions are very hard to understand for something that should be so simple. Getting ahold of customer service is a complete struggle. They are based in the UK, but have an office in the US. They pass you on to each other but no one actually handles the issue.

I like this jig
Works great for hanging new doors to existing jambs, or vise versa. I like being able to transfer the jig over for perfect hinge placement. Takes time to dial in, but saves time when doing many doors. Please note that you'll have to remove the jamb door stop to attach to jamb for proper hinge depth.

Quality time saving Tool
I bought this jig to hang twelve 6’8” doors. I used the jig with my DeWalt ¼” router to fit 5/8” corner hinges and the results are perfect. The hinges all line up perfectly (between the door and the jamb), and the accuracy of the leaf recesses are much better than I have achieved in the past with a chisel. When you understand how the jig works, it will save you hours. Once you’ve set it up for a project, there is no need to adjust it. The kit comes with everything you need to start cutting – template guide, ½” diameter bit, corner chisel etc. The bag and pouch feel like good quality. The aluminium rails are nicely made and make the jig super lightweight. Make sure you read the instructions thoroughly, Great investment, would highly recommend.

Very disappointed with the packaging - the outer boxes are ripped and open - gives a look of used product at the price of new!
