Great watch for people who aren't looking for a smartwatch.
I normally wait a good minute before I review a product, but I want to preference this by saying I do not like smartwatches. In fact I hate smartwatches because they invalidate the one thing a watch should always have available: the ability to tell time. If Im ever in a scenario where I need to at least know time, God forbid if you end up in some odd case were you're lost in the woods, you should at least have a reliable way to tell time that won't go away because you didn't charge your watch. All that aside, I think this watch is exceptional for what it offers. It has great visibility of the face so you can always read it accurately (others spoke of the other mudman watches with the negative display being poorly visible so I went with this one). There are two inner screens allowing the watch to display the compass and baro features on top of the time. I think this is an interesting feature. The time automatically keeps itself up to date with the triple sensor having access to world time and multiple timezones. The watch is solar-powered so it can gain charge while you're out and about (though it's not so much. Still, it's powered by a battery so the solar feature just helps keep it alive longer). There are several extra features such as time recoding for physical activities, 5 alarms you can set, a barometer, a thermometer, an altimeter, and a compass. I don't necessarily need the extra features and some like the thermometer even state in the manual that the accuracy is within 3-5 notches but it's enough for me that if I wanted to gauge an approximate temperature, I could look at my watch. The compass is pretty accurate though still not exact I'm sure. All in all, the watch is really good at both keeping time and making it visible, which is pretty much 8/10 alone for me, and it's pretty durable. The other point at 9/10 comes in with the extra features and the watch's build. If you're like me, who doesn't see the convenience of smart functions like reading texts or answering your phone as good enough justification for putting down 300+ dollars on a watch (if you have BT anyway, just get BT earbuds and answer your phone with that), then this is a good one.

Great watch for what I use it for (flying). Highly recommend.

Best G Shock so far
I have had this for a few months now and it works and looks like new. I have owned several G shocks over the years and this is the best one so far. It is pricey, but I think it is worth it. I was having problems seeing the small numbers on my old G shock mudman. This watch does have larger numbers, especially on the date. I needed this as I got older. I would recommend this watch if you are in the market for a rock solid watch that will take about anything you throw at it.

Upgrade over earlier Mudman/9400 Rangeman/Close to GWG 1000/2000
I have earlier Mudmans, 9400 Rangeman, GWG 1000/2000 and GSG 100 Mudmasters. I am a G-Shock fan, so buying this is under a want, not a need condition. The only issue upfront, but not necessarily too bad because I still give it 5 stars. I have the positive screen display and it could use a little bit more contrast as the numbers are not as dark and you need to shift your wrist into the right light angle to improve the read. It is not like the numbers are not readable at all, but just needs a little more of a contrast or a bright boost. However, this is a Mudman and not a watch designed for desk jockeys or garrison folk that never go outdoors. On the positive, the issue with the contrast is not as bad when I am outdoors, I am able to read the numbers just fine in most light angles. Of course for darker conditions, indoors or outdoors, this watch has convenient access to use the light function which lights up the face brightly. I have used this watch while on a few outdoor walks in a trail setting with blue skies and under large trees and I have not had any issues. So I guess it is a reminder that this is a watch meant for the outdoors! Upgrades are the features coming from combining or adding those of earlier Mudmans, Rangeman, and Mudmasters: sunset/sunrise, better compass display called the Duplex LCD (I almost bought a Pro-Trek because of this feature, but they don’t have full G-Shock standard features, ended up buying the PRW-3500 later anyways, has 200m WR/Tough Solar and almost identical module), and for all those models mentioned above, the size. It is still has full large face, comparable to the GWG 2000, however it is slimmer than it, and the slimmest of the models mentioned above. It is so far the most comfortable of all the Master of G models that I have, regular G-Shocks like the GW-5610 or GW-6900 are of course more compact and the best in comfort to wear. But I am only comparing to the Master of G line which are more advanced for use in dirty jobs or adventures. The Altimeter, Barometer, Compass (ABC) modes have been working consistently, and have been checking against smart phone weather apps and compass. I noticed that the sequence of the mode button are aligned with the GWG 1000/2000 except this module has its own barometer button. Multiband 6 watch feature has been able to sync at midnight without any issues or delays with the Ft. Collins signal. Buttons are able to press with ease, unlike the earlier Mudmans that had extremely stiff buttons to keep the mud/dirt out. Would have been nice if it had a sapphire glass as it is such a large display face, but will settle for how it is. I ended up buying a screen protector here on Amazon for it that solves this issue and fits wonderfully (check out my other review on this). As this is an upgrade, I like most guys do not read the instructions (my wife’s pet peeve) but there were a couple of settings I was not familiar with so I ended up downloading a PDF copy of the manual from the Casio website. I was going to buy this GW-9500 at some point since I have been wearing G-Shocks for a couple of decades now. But to offer assistance to any first time buyers, I would highly recommend this watch as your first G-Shock if you are in the market for one. It is more advance that the earlier Mudmans/9400 Rangeman, which are still available for purchase. It is an upgrade by leaps and bounds by combining all the features of those models. If you are not comfortable spending more on the high end GWG or the new GWG-B models, this is a better selection for your wallet. Aside from the sapphire glass, there is not really any significant difference in function with the GWGs other than their appearance with the analog/digital display and this is already slimmer than the newer GWG 2000. If the Master of G models don’t fancy you, my personal recommendation are the GW-5610 or GW-6900 models which are classic G-Shocks you can never go wrong with. Do not be fooled with smart watches, I dual wrist with a G-Shock on my left and an Apple Watch SE on my right (primarily for health monitoring, exercise tracking, and hands free phone calls/messaging). But as you may know, when things go bad, this solar chargeable watch will be working for years on end and no matter what, a smart watch from any brand will never meet the full reliability and toughness of a G-Shock. Bought my first Tough Solar/Multiband 6 GW-9010 Mudman in 2009 from Amazon and it still holds a full battery charge. Not hard to figure out which one I will still be wearing for years on end and which one will be the first to stop working.

Performs alot
Let's start off with instructions. No English given. You need to go to you tube. As others say, it is difficult to see the display. I Love the fact it's solar powered and I don't need to change batteries every 2 years. It is very accurate with its time, compass, and altitude. The other features are accurate as well, but I seldom have a use for them. A good fit on my wrist and it's nice looking for any occasion. A little pricey but what isn't today? A good investment.

Casio GW 9500 1JF Looks Good and Wears Well
I have several Casio triple sensor G-Shocks but I have come to wear the new GW 9500 the most. It is very similar in its features to my Casio triple sensor Pro Trek watches; yes, I have several of those too. I purchased the positive display and like it for its large and easy to see features. Although a somewhat bulky watch, it feels light on my wrist and hasn't gotten in the way as I wear it during my every day routines. I do prefer the Casio GW 9400 main display that will also show the date along with the barometric pressure and can start the stopwatch with a single button push, but like the Pro Treks, I've gotten used to the GW 9500 features and prefer its cleaner and more open display. I'm very pleased with this new G-Shock.
