Q: Does it let phantom power pass through? I.e. if its outputs are connected to a source that provides phantom power, would the inputs transmit it?

Don't know but I assume with the XLR it is a straight passthrough so it will likely work.

Q: how does this compare to the mackie big knob?

I think it's better than the Big Knob. It's much more compact than the BK. The BK I tried definitely added some distortion to the audio. The BM1 is completely transparent.

Q: can you use this to split a signal? 1 xlr in and 2 xlr out in mono?

Not the intended purpose but should work. The two channels are summed in mono mode and output on both L+R outputs.

Hi , dont know about the tc electronic leve pilot, but this behringer has worked perfectly for me, excellent clear sound and greati big knob for control
