You need this if you're an Indiana Jones fan!
I am in AWE of how great this little grail diary is. I had been looking all over for a good one, but couldn't bring myself to purchase any of the handmade, expensive ones. This one is AMAZING, especially for the price. There are images, drawings and writing on every page, and it came with so many cool loose pieces of folded paper that look like mementos Dr. Jones himself would have accumulated on his travels. The diary comes with a black elastic band around it, which I removed because it's not very authentic to the movie, but that's no matter because I intend to display it open anyway.Oh, and BONUS! - The diary comes in a box that's wrapped in paper and twine and is addressed to Prof. Indiana Jones :) I re-wrapped the box after removing the diary and now I have a second bonus prop!

You get a lot for your money
Fun and interesting prop that any Indy fan would find interesting. I "aged" it a bit with tea and worked on the cover to make it look less new since I was using it as a prop for Halloween.Given the time and effort this would take to reproduce I thought it was good value.

A very high quality reproduction but with a few misses
If you're a fan of the classic Indiana Jones franchise (specifically the first three or four, not the fifth one we never speak about), and especially if you're a fan of Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade (i.e. Indy 3) then this replica prop of Dr. Jones Sr.'s Grail Diary is a very nice addition to any Indy fan's collection. The pages are a bit difficult to read but then they're supposed to be handwritten. Similarly some of the pages appear to be out of order compared to the movie while also lacking a few details (One example, the page autographed by a certain Austrian Corporal lacks said autograph). Now, as they advertise, the diary and assorted documents arrive wrapped in paper and twine, bearing stamps from Venice Italy, addressed to Indiana Jones just like in the movie. There's a bunch of extra documents and papers included, some within the back cover of the diary itself. Most of the documents appear to at least, in some way, tie into the setting. There's a bunch of artifact documents on the artifacts that were recovered from Indy 1-4 (The golden idol from the Raiders opening to the Crystal Skull) as well as other documents that seem to fit. But there's also a few documents that just don't seem to fit. A newspaper clipping regarding a football game, a couple pages of sheet music of what I believe is the Raider's March, and oddly a transcription of the Declaration of Independence. It looks to me that the creators of this replica were looking for period appropriate things that could be stuck inside since the diary in the film is riddled with little inserts and the like and that's what these are for.Further, there are several documents that are just flat out missing. Chief among them is the poster for Club Obi Wan and the Shield Rubbings made during Last Crusade. So you aren't really getting the complete set of documents that are advertised.Overall, it's a very nice reproduction and the diary itself, along with its parcel packaging gives this copy a nice feel of authenticity. The added papers are a nice touch but it's minus one star for not including everything advertised.

Get this for the collectors in your life!
This turned out to be an awesome gift for my husband for his birthday to add to his collection. He saw it on Amazon and decided not to go for it, afraid it would turn out to be blank on the inside like “the book for the recently deceased” journal from beetlejuice. I didn’t even know he had looked at it already, and thought it would be a fun gift for him! But it is FULL of all sorts of items from ALL of the Indiana Jones movies. It really is a great gift for the collectors in your life!

Price over Quality
So after seeing the fairly positive reviews for this item, I decided to pick it up and add it to my shelf of inexpensive collectibles. After having received it, I think it will fit well, with an emphasis on the inexpensive ha ha.The diary itself is kinda cool. The exterior is a hard leather, and I did not notice any smudging or blurring of print on any of the pages. The pages look good but it definitely is a prop--don't purchase this thinking it will have any sheen of authenticity. It's clear everything was photocopied, but if you can look past that it's still a decent enough item to display on a shelf next to your Indiana Jones films. The inserts are mostly another story. There are a few decent ones-a couple maps on a stiff, higher quality paper. Most everything else is literally just photocopied items on the cheapest printer paper you could get. This includes the "photos," news clippings, etc. Unlike the diary, you could reproduce this by printing pictures off the internet, that's about the same quality.Worse, most of what they advertise is not actually included. There is no grail rubbing, no letter from Mutt, no Club Obi Wan advertisement. Instead, they clearly just have piles of random inserts with products completely unrelated to Indiana Jones. I got an excerpt of the declaration of independence, a photocopied silver dollar certificate, and a photocopied share of stock in the Stetson hat company. The inserts I did get that were film related were mostly ho hum, things like "secret military documents" related to artifacts from the films. All in all, I did like the diary enough that I'm not returning it, but I wouldn't say this is exactly as advertised, and in my view is probably worth closer to $15 than the $27 it's priced at. With a little elbow grease and time, you could make your own diary and inserts that would be far more impressive than this one. That said, if you, like me, are just looking for something cheap you can put on a shelf next to your films and books, you could do worse than this.
