The Three Musketeers.
It probably goes without saying that this is definitely the least faithful film-of-the-book – indeed “suggested by an idea by Alexandre Dumas” is probably a more apt description; that doesn`t mean it isn't entertaining though.Completely daft, this has Steampunk airships, improbable weaponry and Ninja-like action scenes; it's remarkable the high standard of acting talent who were prepared to get on board with this, but that adds to the success of the film – Milla Jovovich deserves special mention for stealing every scene she's in, the lady always gives good value no matter how silly things get.The UK DVD release has a good selection of extras with commentary, cast and crew, design, action and location featurettes and deleted/extended scenes totalling just under 1 hour. There are English subtitles available, but you may need to adjust your TV screen set-up to view them.

Great Classic
A double agent and three musketeers sitting idle with no fun until D'Artagnan seeks their help for the king as a plot is about to happen to overthrow the king. The special effects are great and suspense with the roller coaster action included class this as a marvellous classic type of show that stands out. I rated this an A grade plus for the ideas acting and story that leads the way making this fabulous to see, so collect the munchies pick up the movie, while relaxing in your chair push the button to start and watch for that fantastic entertainment to begin. Enjoy!

The Musketeers get steampunked –oh yeah”
This 2011 family adventure film carries a ‘12’ rating and follows the main themes of Alexander Dumas’ book quite well, but gives it a new ‘modern’ take and some minor tweaks to keep the story fresh. The three musketeers; Athos [Matthew Macfadyen], Aramis [Luke Evans] and Ray Stevenson as Porthos, are Loyalists to the King and work together with d'Artagnan [Logan Lerman] -a country bumpkin, to save the Queen from the schemes of Cardinal Richelieu [Christoph Waltz]. Helped and hindered by Milady [Milla Jovovich] this latest adaptation offers the viewer a steady blend of action and intrigue. The sets look convincingly ’olde worlde’ and the special effects bring this into the ’modern’ era. The cannonade between the air-ships is a surprisingly good depiction of a naval cannonade as bits of wood make the deck look terrifyingly deadly.Sure the film has a number of factors that many may not like; steampunk look, flying airships etc but it’s meant to be an adventure. Enter into this as a kind of ‘Chronicles of Narnia; Adventures of the Dawn Treader’, ‘The Adventures of Baron Munchausen’ and with a general tongue-in-cheek attitude and you get the idea and will probably enjoy it, Ultimately it’s a tale of loyalty, friendship, love lost, love won and betrayal. There’s something in this for everyone. As for the disc itself it opens to the usual copyright warnings before taking you through five different movie trailers, eventually cutting to the main menu offering play, scene selections, special features [basically various making of views and deleted scenes] and set up options [which basically on mine was subtitles and didn’t work -lose a star].At well under £5 this is a solid buy and gets a well deserved **** rating as a 12 rated film. No sex, no swearing but some graphic scenes of danger rather than gore will probably make it unsuitable for younger viewers.

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT
I saw this film at the beginning of the year when it came out at the cinema and loved it that i just had to purchase the dvd when it was on offer at a steal for a fiver. Although i had never heard of any of the lead actors in this movie all four play their musketeers role superbly well. This is a great movie to watch with all the family and some good one liners too. Lighthearted and fun fun fun all the way.

Billiant fun, great re-working of the story!
This is a really good movie and it's surprising more people don't know about it. The acting is superb, the plot has great pace and interest, the sets and costumes are over the top fabulous, it is genuinely amusing and the special effects are very good. It delivers wonderful adventure and entertainment for family and adult audiences. One of the best all round movies for any age that I have seen to date. Great fun and highly watchable!!!

Fun and gorgeous to look at.
It was never going to win an Oscar but this film is a lot of action packed fun. The settings and costumes are gorgeous too, and the film has some steampunk elements with fit in surprisingly well. The character I liked best was Orlando Bloom's Duke of Norfolk, he's very hard to dislike, he's a swaggering little peacock and Bloom is clearly enjoying himself in this role. I feel sorry for him when at some point he ends up being the victim of all sides. The rest of the cast is attractive and play their roles very well. Mads Mikklesen especially makes a good villain and the King & Queen of France are very likeable. Watch it with an open mind and you will like it!

A well known tale with a twist
Good clean fun with the same old story. Add in the twist of the air baloons and it's just the same tale, updated a bit and with something to beef the story up a bit. Suitable for kids of virtually all ages with lots of swords, little in the way of violence, music, bangs, a classic goody , bady (dressed in black) a villian and a heroic youngster. Good stuff with lots of bit parts by well known big name stars.
