What A Helm
I don't see how in the world people can give this helm less than 5 stars- unless they recieved a faulty one or a refurbished one that isn't workign properly. The fold down welding lens is absolutely WONDERFUL. The internal movement means nothing is sticking up off of your head to catch on things in a work environment and it is not even remotely front heavy. Being able to easily slap the welding lens up and still have a class-leading face shield without having to remove the mask is amazing.Once you use these Optrel lenses, other welding masks feel so closterphobic. The visibiltiy with this helm is world-changing if you're used to traditional welding lenses. The automatic darkening adjustment, where the lens automatically darkens to the correct level is low-key one of the best features I've used in years. You can literally go from TIG welding to high amperage MIG welding and not manually adjust your darkening. Wow. The Optrel helms aren't going to survive as big of a fall as many other welding helms on the market- so don't knock it off the welding table. That being said, they don't feel fragile. Take care of the helm and it'll take care of you.The fit of the Optrel headgear is also class-leading. You can't feel this helm at *all* during use or with the helm lifted. I took the hard hat out and I don't plan on using it any time soon, so I can't comment on that, other than the hard hat looks well made and seems like it would be comfortable.IMO if you want the best welding helment on the market, this is it.

If you can’t see you can’t weld it
Optrel. As a structural welder with 20+ years welding, optrel is far and away the best welding hood I’ve ever used. It’s light when being used for hrs. The best filter lens on the market is an understatement. It’s ultra clear, and the auto-pilot function is nice as well. Expensive yes, but quality and safety I will pay for. You can’t go wrong with any Optrel products

La idea es buena.
Yá he usado ésta marca y es excelente, pero en éste caso queda mucho a deber el funcionamiento (las partes móviles no funcionan a la perfección) En ocasiones se complica el bajar el lente obscuro y el acceso a los controles.

Not working very well.
Autodarkening sticks on. It's really annoying. I love these optrel helemets but man, if they would only work. This helmet is pretty heavy too. But overall I this thing is great. I am trying to contact the company as it is still under factory warrenty but no respone. So I don't know. I would recommend not buying from this company. All their helmets are like this. They are fantastic but very poor life span and break constantly.p.s.Got a respone for my other optrel. They are going to replace my other hood. Hopefully they will get back to me on this one soon. The darkening still sticks on unless I turn the sensitivity way down, then I get flashed constantly. It worked perfecting fine for 2 weeks. I think I got a bead of sweat in the electronics. Still a 10/10 welding helmet when it works. If it works.

Several issues made me return
Mine arrived with the item box looking like it may have been opened before. One of the side pieces had come undone but seemed to snap back together. Neither of those was a big deal. However what was a big deal to me was two things. 1.) I could not figure out how to keep the shade from being on when not welding. 2.) The mechanism for going between welding and grinding would get stuck in the up position about half the time when I tried it. --- Ended up returning without using it at all. The headgear seemed comfortable and it was light weight.

Bought for my husband
And he loves it! He's a welder in the local union and needed a good welding helmet. I bought this one for him and he loves it. Yes it's expensive, but the quality is worth it!
