Awesome black Gesso!
This gesso is fabulous!Nice opacity and very smooth. It appears to dry to a semi matte finish that I love!I’m going to order the biggest jar.

Really nice gesso
Smooth underpainting. Takes a little longer to dry but is a good quality one coat canvas cover.

quality product
I've used this for over 20 years. It covers well with just one coat. It is very opaque. I have painted black and white paintings using only Golden gessos.

Good coverage gesso.
A little more expensive than other gesso but Golden is excellent gesso.

It’s Gesso
How much can you say, it’s a jar of gesso. It dries quickly, is easy to apply and sands well. I will purchase more of this product.

Not right for my mixed media needs
I use black gesso for mixed media. I paint over white canvases to get black background as my metallic paints/waxes show up so much better. This is too glossy. I also change my fabric flowers to a different color by painting them with black gesso (tedious to do, but pays off so as to use up what I have and not spend more money), this didn't work as well at that as the Dina Wakley black gesso. Plus everything I used it on had a gloss to it, which I'm not sure how it'll work when it's painted over. Prefer the matte, not glossy. Plus it didn't want to stick to my fabric flowers, metal flowers and resin pieces as well as Dina Wakley. I got it as it was qu icker to get and cheaper, but ended up waiting for my Dina Wakley to arrive to continue the canvas project. I also use Finnibair Art Basics heavy black gesso, but it's too heavy for altering the pieces for my canvas project. Was good to go over the basic elements that had first been glued down to the canvas, and the white canvas, itself, but too heavy to use especially on changing the fabric flowers as the petals really stuck to one another. I know most people here don't use it as I do, but thought maybe the occasional mixed media artist may find this review helpful. Love black gesso!
