Buy Whole Body Barefoot: Transitioning Well to Minimal Footwear Illustrated by Bowman M.S., Katy (ISBN: 9780989653985) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Informative resource. - This book is really helping me transition from heeled shoes to minimal footwear. It's immensely practical, well informed from biomechanics and yet fun and not stuffy. The pictures are quite grainy but good enough to know what you need to do for the exercise. Review: Just what I wanted! - Felt like 'Born to Run' was more of a cult than backed by science and a progressive introduction to minimalist footwear. This book blew me away in how concise but information packed it was. Read it over 2 sessions. Got plenty of exercises to introduce now. Enjoy

getting a bit repetative
The information here is repeated in Katy's other books. Clearly feet are important in the grand scheme of things so if this is the only book of Katy's that you read then you will be very happy with it - lots of good tips and exercises and the importance of transitioning to minimal footwear. However - being a fan I have several books with the same information - hence the 4 stars.

Makes so much sense!
Having recently sustained a serious sprained ankle, I spent my incarceration searching for why I, as a relatively fit and healthy person, had turned my ankle so easily on an uneven surface. The answers are all here! My barefoot shoes are on the way, and the practical exercises logged and started. I now have a keen interest in body mechanics, so will be reading Katy's other books too.

Thank you Katy Bowman for helping me to walk confidently again
I've read a number of Katy Bowman's books - all great. I also listen to her podcasts - hugely informative. Aged nearly 60, with nearly 20 years of significant foot pain, she has transformed my world. Walking had become very difficult and x-rays, MRIs etc had not helped. The best the NHS offered was an insole, which caused even more pain. Katy's books helped me self-diagnose all that was wrong with my body, the result of a lifetime at a desk, at a computer, wearing shoes I thought sensible but actually still not good (low but not fully flat, and not gripping my foot, causing it to work too hard in the wrong places). I now wear Vibram Five Fingers most of the time and when I need ordinary shoes (such as walking boots), I insert CorrectToes between my toes, to spread them. The result... my feet and toes are getting stronger all the time and thus resisting pain. The transformation is incredible. Thank you Katy for all that you do.

I love this woman's work
Fabulous. I love this woman's work, so freeing and empowering. Not many people are sharing this message. Helps you to really understand the way your feet work in relation to the rest of your body and how to keep them healthy. I have downloaded some of her exercises from restorative exercise web site - great value for money and hugely informative. Give your feet a treat.

Walk barefoot back to health.
This book was recommended to my wife by a friend, who then asked me to pick it up for her, so I jumped online and found it from Amazon EU S.a.r.L. at a great price. The delivery was very swift, and although I had ordered two by mistake, the wife liked it so much, we gave the second copy to the mother in law, and she loved it too. I had always been a fan of walking barefoot in the grass, so I also read the book too, and found it fantastic. Since then, we have recommend this book to so many of our friends. A must read for anyone who loves to look at both sides of a story.

Great instructive booj
This my third book from this author and I'm so glad I got it. There are lots of corrective exercises in it and good photos for visual learners like me. I've already started some of them and am reaping the benefits already. My feet and legs don't hurt as quickly as they use to during a long walk. When I do get pain or discomfort, doing them bring relief for the following day.

Super Buch. Vier Sterne weil, das Buch ist teuer und Bowman wiederholt sich in kurz form zum Schluss (ein viertel des Buchs) und eine gute sechstel des Buchs sind Webseiten und Vorschläge für Barfuß Schuhe.

I was chatting with an acquaintance and expressed some difficulties I was having with plantar fasciitis. She mentioned she had experienced the same problems for over 30yrs before discovering Katy. She went on to explain more about alignment, stretching, strengthening and minimalist shoes. All information she had learned from this book. I’m self employed and often put up to 25k steps in a day. I need my feet to work! For 3yrs, I’ve struggled with excruciating pain due to my plantar fasciitis. I’ve spent a small fortune on supportive shoes and orthotics. None of them made a lasting impact. It’s only been 2mos since I started following Katy’s advice and I am now pain free. These concepts are with me for life. Thank you, Katy.

Van gewone schoenen naar barefoot schoenen naar barefoot sandalen naar volledig barefoot. Bezig met de laatste stap en het boek geeft goede tips waarop te letten.

I had been curious about minimalist footwear for a few years, as a few good friends had gotten into it, while I wore increasingly stiff and "supportive" shoes in a negative spiral of increasing attempts to support painful feet which in turn made them weaker and more painful. Then I was shopping for shoes for my kids, and a friend encouraged minimalist footwear for them, and I got curious and got myself a pair and this book. Things I love about this book: 1) It is super readable (I read it in one night) and compelling and gives a clear, biomechanics-based explanation for why barefoot and minimalist shoes are good for us. 2) It is super realistic about needing to give our bodies time, exercise, and a gentle transition to minimalist footwear after wearing traditional stuff, heavy, "supportive" shoes our whole lives. 3) The adjustments to posture and the various foot and leg exercises were super helpful. Using some of the exercises here, and the patient and gradual transition that Katy prescribes, over time I've grown to love the feel of the ground under my feet when I wear my minimalist shoes, and my feet have gotten much stronger and more capable, and the foot pain I used to live with every day has vanished as my feet became stronger and more capable. Which in turn has led me down a rabbit hole of other ways of changing and expanding my movement which has done nothing but good things for my health and well being.

This book is smart, easy, enlightenning, just the perfect book for anyone who wants to go barefoot, or just for people who have had years of back knee feet pain without finding relief with any kind of therapy. I've been dealing with tendonitis for years and now I understand all the wrong movement and shoe choices that led me to chronic pain. Anyone who enters a doctors office or PT practice should be given this book.
