Great workout material..
The exercises are well paced and nothing too extreme - the single line melodies are easy enough to sound out vocally or in your head so when I'm not playing the bass I can spend time just "reading the book" which is really nice..I'm not teaching anymore but I would definitely recommend this to any students - I started playing bass professionally about 25 years ago and cold sight reading is a skill I just wanted to build up - it's a good pandemic project...if I had this book earlier I would have gotten into it, but if you never have to sight read for work then it's easy to just keep putting it off :)I would like to see a second volume come out (I didn't see one), I like the style and pacing of this book so I will keep an eye out for a sequel - it's not clear what the next best step should be...there is plenty of material in the world to practice reading with, but this progressive format works Very Well for me..

Useful book
Not one for the beginner, presents well thought out and progressively harder reading exercises. Many of my students have found it very useful.

Bardzo dobra książka do nauki czytania nut
Naprawdę pomocna książka, ćwiczenia dobrzw stopniowane trudnością i melodyczne.

What it lacks in variety, it makes up for in quantity!
I was in dire need of a huge amount of practice pieces leading up to my grade 1 exam, and I have continued using this book since then to keep improving as I start on grade 2. The sheer number of exercises is what drew me to this book (I'd worked through the ABRSM specimen tests and the "Improve your Sight Reading" book by Paul Harris 2 or 3 times and could already play them from memory, so that was no good). My only criticism would be that the pieces are all in C major and 4/4 time (well, all the ones I've looked at so far have been. I skimmed through the pages and am pretty sure this applies to the whole book). Since the grade 1 exam doesn't involve any use of the C string, it's a bit of a shame that the easiest exercises didn't bear that in mind. So there was nothing in G or D major, which is what can be expected in the exam. Also there are no dynamics in any of the exercises (so far, at least - again, I'm pretty sure that's the case throughout the book), which is the thing I most tend to miss when I'm sight-reading. I'm thinking of going through and randomly adding some Ps and Fs to challenge myself with! All in all though, if you need sight reading practice, there's plenty of it here, so I'd recommend it. What it lacks in variety, it makes up for in quantity!
