Works well for powering a Ring Siren
I had been looking for a power supply to hard wire our Ring Siren as the battery pack would only last a month if we used the led night light option. After seeing this one being recommended on a forum I ordered one, when it arrived I was surprised by how small it was and had my doubts if it was up to the job. As a backup I bought a bigger one from Screwfix as it was a weekend and didn't have time to get another if it didn't work, I didn't use it in the end. Installation was really easy, 2 wires in, 2 wires out. Terminals are small so be gentle with them. The is a small hole which can also be used to secure it to something. It would be nicer if it had a proper external tag to mount it with but as its so small and light it doesn't need much. I wired ours via a fused connection point so can be isolated. Powered on and works fine, the alarm reported hard wire was working and it recharged the removable battery pack up overnight. I checked it a couple of times in the evening and the morning and the power supply didn't even get warm which was a good sign its not underpoweredCheap price and did the job fine, time will only tell how long it lasts but I have another one to do so will be ordered a second one.

Small, Good Price, Just the Job!
Would definitely recommend! Great price and quality - purchased 3x. I used these to replace the original electronic transformers in the light fittings to ensure long life of the 6x 1.5W LED bulbs also purchased from Amazon (10xG4 24 Silicon LED EBuyled® 1.5W 12V DC Cool White - Also brilliant purchase!). Screw terminals very small but not a problem if you either use the existing wires from the old transformer or fit new ones with a screw terminal strip to the house wiring (wouldn't recommend attempting to fit the house grey 1mm T+E type cable directly to it). No problems with EMC interfering with radio reception few others have mentioned - I avoided the "active" LED bulbs (with inductor and switching regulator built in - identified by yellow capacitor on some other photos) to be on safe side, simple LED/Diode/Resistor passive ones are fine when you use a proper LED driver like this one anyway. On Prime too so next day delivery!Well done Amazon and Safield Dist Ltd. first class product and service! :)

Works well but a little too basic.
I'm slowly replacing my halogen MR16 spots as LED equivalents are getting brighter and cheaper. I had a couple of troublesome 50 watt halogens in a loft bathroom which kept overheating the connections. I was able to get some 8W Philips LED spots, which are just as bright as halogens, but needed LED 12v transformers to suit, as the old transformers flickered when switched on. So this transformer looked like it would fit the bill. It's small enough to fit through the hole in the ceiling and wiring was very simple. The markings on the transformer body indicated which connections to use for 240v input and 12v output wires. Taking the usual precautions with the mains, I was able to very quickly screw down the wires. However I would say that the cable clamp is not really substantial enough to grip the wires secureley. So I deducted 1 star from my rating. Insulating tape was then used to wrap the connections and secure them. All working fine and the LEDs are a great, and economical, replacement for older hot halogens.

Works trouble free
Had this fitted sometime ago now. Used every day for our kitchen led lighting. Seems reliable.

Essential with G4 LED bulbs
Bought to work with my tiny G4 LEDs in my new light fitting. Under £5, easy to use (by someone with moderate DIY skill - alternatively check out YouTube) and no issues with the bulbs or light fitting after about 2 months use. Needed as LEDs have a smaller power output (LED G4s in particular emit about 1.5W compared to the 5w/10w of halogen G4s) which most light fittings can't detect / handle. Given the increased popularity of LEDs items like this are essential. One needed per light fitting (didn't originally realise this and had to buy another one for the 2nd light fitting). Delivery was prompt and the item was appropriately packed - no issues.

Power supply for wall-mounted NEST 3rd Generation Smart Thermostat!
In case this is of interest I thought I'd let you know what I used this excellent little transformer for: It's to use the existing wiring from a conventional household heating thermostat to power a wall-mounted NEST 3rd Generation smart thermostat! The NEST controller "disk" needs 12v DC at around 5w, so this was ideal. Conventionally you mount the NEST controller on a free-standing stand with a USB plug power supply. I wanted it to replace the old hallway 'stat with the NEST.So I traced the wiring back to the airing cupboard heating / hot water junction box, identified the thermostat wiring using an electrical testing meter, then wired in your transformer to a permanent live / neutral to get a 240v AC mains feed, and to give a 12v DC feed to power the NEST controller, now mounted on the wall in place of the old 'stat. The output of your transformer was wired to the 2 of the 3 existing thermostat wires, I taped up the unused 3rd wire and then connected the old thermostat wires, now carrying 12v DC, to the NEST mounting plate - and job done! All working PERFECTLY - many thanks guys! :-)

If you've swapped to LED Bulbs and getting flickering lights, swap to these transformers! Problem solved.
Purchased two of these to replace the old 12v transformers I had on my bathroom ceiling lights. The old ones were causing the occasional flicking on and off of my new LED bulbs as lots of old 12v transformers were for halogen bulbs and aren't designed for LED bulbs.Running 1 x 6W Philips LED Master Bulb off each transformer as read online that whilst one of these units is rated for 12w it's not a good idea to run it right to the max with 2 x 6w bulbs. Plus there were already 2 of the older units in place, so made it replacing like for like and these are a great price too.Easy job to swap over, even having to crawl into my half height loft to do it! Been in for a few weeks now and no more annoying problems with the LED bulbs flicking on and off. Problem solved.Couldn't be happier. Highly recommended.
