MG Chemicals 836-P No Clean Flux Pen

Can't complain... I'm no expert, but it seems to be doing the trick, it's easy to use and apply, and helps me solder and de-solder well without damage to the PCB. I'm not a heavy user, so I can't attest to how long it lasts, hopefully it won't dry up by the next time I use it.

I've never soldered before using a flux pen but due to a problematic PCB I decided to try this product. I went with the No Clean Pen as this appears to be the easiest and cleanest type to use. I must say I am quite impressed. This pen certainly appears to make soldering a lot easier, it makes the solder flow more quickly and all the issues I had with the problematic PCB were no more. Just dab a small amount of this liquid on the PCB pad, wait a short while, then solder. Simple as that!! Product is a bit smelly as it contains IPA and don't forget to shake it between each use. Product leaves a slight residue behind or that could be my solder but no problems powering up the board after. I shall start using this pen for all my soldering now. Tip of the pen seems robust enough.

Has a very mildly active effect so is useful on delicate work with very little residue. Spits very little. All in all, a pleasure to use but beware!....when you depress the nib dispenser, flux floods out if you're not careful. If it was'nt for this onr weakness, i'd give it 5 stars. Oh, and it does'nt erode the soldering iron bit like some others.

When you want to do some quick soldering this flux pen is a huge time saver. Helps flow solder really nicely. Always have one in the box of tricks.

Apparently I have to score it on those. Very sheer, very warm once the soldering irons on it?! ...It's okay in a pinch but you don't have much control as to how much comes out and I was never convinced it was really working well. Since buying this, I bought some paste and would recommend that over this easily; particularly in that you can more accurately place the goo and see it working with the solder. The only other difference is that it's a lot easier to clean the 'not-nearly-as-good' pen stuff whereas the paste takes a lot more elbow grease to remove once you've finished.

Leaves almost no residue on PCB and according to MG Chemicals (I've emailed their support), it can be used together with rosin flux core solder.

I purchased. This product to use with one of those SMD soldering projects, it worked very well and didn’t leave a load of residue, What’s not to like.

I'm very familiar with the case when parts are hard to solder because they repel the solder and don't want it to stick to them no matter what. This pen solves the problem very easily - it takes just extra few seconds to put flux on the parts and they solder very well after that, they pretty much attract solder and keep it on them. Just be careful - the flux in the pen is pretty toxic so take it into account and read the safety message that comes with them.

I use this all the time, working with 60/40 solder. it works great. Honestly, if you don't use flux, USE FLUX.
