Great product for ridding spaces of mice
We have had the mouse trap for a full year now and every few months we get a bed invasion of mice. This thing has worked wonders for us. It’s easy quick clean no struggle. No more snap traps, no more glue traps no more pinching fingers trying to set them. We have not had to reload bate for a while because the mice don’t even get to it . Zap is so quick and fast. Caught about 10 mice. Bate I used was peanut butter. Will have to change the bate eventually because it will dry and not have odor. Used Lysol to spray on and in it . The Lysol smell didn’t even stop the mouse from coming into the trap. So happy w this will probably get another for the garage .

100% worth the money!
This product arrived at 6pm to our farm. Our house has been inundated with mice lately and we’ve tried poison outside, the five gallon bucket with the trap door lid (insanely effective in areas where we store feed), regular mouse traps and the white plastic mouse traps in the house. By 2am, I woke up to the at first startling sound of mouse electrocution. Much to my delight, it worked perfectly. It continued to zap the mouse for a bit and as soon as it was done, the green light started flashing. Easy to dispose of the dead mouse and reset by turning it back on.I can’t speak to its longevity but this product is already worth its weight in gold. Can’t wait to buy more and to continue my crusade against our freeloading farm mice.

Avoid Owltra; defective product design is bad enough, atrocious support pushes it over the edge
Beware the deceptively high rating on this listing, it is the combined ratings of 9 different products. This review is for the small outdoor tunnel snap traps. They are pretty bad, and probably a waste of your time and money. Read the reviews others have left for them. There is some defect (probably loosey goosey manufacturing tolerances) that causes them to either not latch or get stuck latched, often right out of the box. And if not then, after a couple triggers.I got 'lucky' and I was able to initially set all of them without any apparent issue. After a few months of them not catching anything, I investigated further in case something was wrong, and found that 3 of the 4 were either incredibly hard to trigger (impossible for a mouse) or just completely jammed and immovable. One worked as I would expect, on a hair-trigger, and to its credit, managed to catch two mice eventually.I contacted Owltra service, politely asking if there was a way to fix them, and if not asking for replacements, but never got a response.Several months later, I bought a second of their electric traps (which work like a champ) and saw the cheery little note that said to contact them if there was any problem. Encouraged by this, I tried emailing them again about the faulty snap traps, this time with receipts attached to add legitimacy, assuming my first email just got lost or accidentally overlooked. This time they responded, passively aggressively noting that I ordered them a year ago and asking in broken English whether they worked well for me for the past months (???). I think they were trying to imply that I'd gotten my use out of them. Ignoring the attitude, I re-iterated that 3/4 never worked and went into more detail about the problem. They ignored me again. A bit peeved now, I initiated contact with them a third time, noting my frustration and the fact that I had also contacted them previously 4 months ago about the same issue, screenshotting the old email. This seemed to get their attention and they responded within a couple hours, just to say that they didn't get my first email and that the traps were out of warranty now as I ordered 'a long time ago' - as of that last email, a few days past a year for the first two I ordered, a month short of a full year for the second set. Subtract 4 months if we go by my first email. I have to assume the warranty period must either be 6 months or this site's default 30 day return window or just whenever they feel like 'a long time' has passed. They did then offer a generous 10% discount on my next order. I decided this wasn't worth the time and that my effort would be better spent writing a novel warning others of this experience, so I did.Not that it was strictly necessary, as other reviewers report a similar customer service experience (why include that happy little 'contact us' note at all, Owltra?! Just save yourselves the effort of ignoring all those emails!)I really do like their electric traps, those do work. Just something fundamentally wrong with these snap traps, and Owltra are utterly dismissive of their own failure. They make it impossible to trust them as a company, so I will be looking for alternative electric traps for my next purchases as well, and I recommend others do the same, since any problem that falls outside the Amazon 30 day return window is likely going to become your problem, not theirs.Which is pretty bad for a product like a mouse trap that may take weeks or months to show any result!

Caught an evasive rat on the first night
The media could not be loaded. So I've been using expensive Victor electric rat traps forever, and after about two years of use, the Victor no longer seems attractive to vermin. This one rat has been pruning my favorite conical pine and running off with beautiful sunflowers over the past month. I've had enough. If you are choosing between a rat and mouse version - to me the rat versions are the best because this OWLTRA OW-1 Indoor Electric Rat Trap will also catch mice. Our mice can be quite large - especially around the bird feeders. What attracted me to the OWLTRA OW-1 Indoor Electric Rat Trap was the lower cost and the multipack. I use these electric traps outdoors but usually place them under rocks, so the less costly indoor trap is what I ordered - when ordering more, I will go with the outdoor version as water did enter one of the traps during a very light rain last night. Update: constructed a little house for this rat trap to keep the rain and snow out - works great. This OWLTRA OW-1 Indoor Electric Rat Trap was placed outside (alongside my well used Victor) and the OWLTRA trap was the victor (pun). A very large rat was finally no more. I do find this to be way more effective and humane than the snap traps, as the snap traps often catch only a leg or 1/4 of the body and that's just cruel. The pack rats are so smart and adorable looking as they have big whiskers and tend to be very healthy looking with big eyes - so not seeing them is imperative for me.I use peanut butter with a bit of chocolate and, with this trap, there is a little area where you can easily place a tiny bit with a knife onto a tray area in the back of the trap - it really doesn't take much to attract the vermin so less is better. Added a video to show the victor and the Owltra rat trap little areas for food. The other benefit is this OWLTRA OW-1 Indoor Electric Rat Trap is it's really much easier to open and clean than the Victor that I have. I simply turned this trap upside down into the garbage and never had to touch or see the rat. I'll update this review if this product doesn't last very long or if it malfunctions, but so far so good. Update** Still working great after about 2 months (my Victor seems to be on its last leg but it worked hard for two years). With so many choices for electric rat zappers, I'm glad to have chosen this one - it's well made - a good value, so simple to use, and effective. Added a video to this review in hopes it might help you decide if this product will work out well for you (also included what batteries we use).
