Solid , clear and durable
I bought the smaller version of this square a while ago which I mainly use as a guide when using my circular saw to cut ends of board square and at 45 degrees so I decided to purchase this larger one to enable me to cut wider boards and I’ve also been using my larger square when fitting worktops checking if walls are square ect I also use it when marking out partitions so it has many many uses . I find it sturdy , accurate and very clear and I genuinely find it a pleasure to use and wish I’d bought it years ago.

... straight and was right to be concerned because it's like a banana
Bit concerned by other reviewers that it might be not straight and was right to be concerned because it's like a banana. But, it's flat. So ultimately doesn't concern me too much. I bought it not for cutting roof rafters but mainly for a circular saw guide for which it works brilliantly. For quick cross cutting planks, simply hold square on the work and cut. The edge is thick so the saw won't climb up. Bigger work or rip cuts clamp a straight edge to work. It's a wonderful size, 12". Big enough to see not at all fiddly and likely to slip, like I said the edge is big and chunky so very good to use. Love it

Handles well, good design multiple applications
A good sturdy device bright colour, bit to many different markings etc if you just want too use to obtain ninety degree angles, but still good value

Spot on, great quality
Purchased this to accompany its smaller brother, the 6" version. If you've only ever used standard tri squares in woodwork you will wonder why you never converted to speed squares before as soon as you use one. Speed squares are so solid, never loose their angle and are just more solid in use for framing work than a tri square. the markings are very clear. Not the tool for cabinet making, but for larger stock, 2x1 to 10x2 this is the tool to use, either in this size or its smaller version,. Being bright yellow it is easy to find, you know how easy it is to loose tools when you're working outside.

Brilliant
Also have the smaller version of this, it is so handy I use it as a guide with all my power tools the large edge prevents the tools from slipping over onto the square also being Stanley I trust the measurements.

easy to spot
Bought one of these at the same time I got a 7" Swannson aluminium alloy version. I'm very impressed with the concept they both have but, the Swanson version is slightly more convenient than this larger version. Having said that, this has all the features of the smaller version and is easier to spot with it's black and yellow colour scheme (more Yellow with black trim). It just doesn't fit in the toolbox so easily. If you need the added stability of the increased size then this is the one to get. It seems to be accurate - how accurate do you need if you're hand cutting? - and I would suggest that it would be more accurate than the smaller version due to the bigger dimensions and the subsequent ease of judging angles. Hope this helps if you're undecided
