Removed rust from my new carpet! ... worked an absolute treat!

This stuff is flipping amazing! I wish I'd taken a before photo but, believe me, this little cap was absolutely *covered* in rust due to having been worn under a secret on a sweaty head. Over the last few days, I have tried bleach, fairy liquid, and Vanish but nothing touched it. This rust remover literally removed it instantly - we were flabbergasted! I can't recommend this enough.

The product itself works really well - you might need to give it a couple of tries but it lifts rust stains well. A real relief after I was convinced I’d ruined some of my favourite clothes. My only gripe is with the bottle - it is tiny and the plastic is not sturdy at all, making it impossible to get the cap off. You have to press down really hard on the lock and crush the top of the bottle in the process. I’m happy with the effectiveness of the product but I might try another brand when this one runs out.

This stuff is amazing. The buttons on our sofa had rust stains. I had tried treating them with a vinegar paste but this caused the problem to get much worse. I then treated them with this and the stains vanished immediately. I've ordered another bottle in case the problem returns. Highly recommended.

Very poor couldn't believe how small the bottle was ! Used the item and the rust stains just didn't budge repeated again next day still the same didn't budge wouldn't bother the item does not work.

What is needed to remove rust stining is a reducing agent to convert iron-3 ions into iron-2 ions. This product works well enough provided that the rinsing is sufficient to remove most of solvated iron from the fabric. If the rinsing is insufficient the stain will reappear as any residual iron-2 is oxidized by atmospheric oxygen. This product is a solution of detergent in water with oxalic acid (ethane-dioic acid) as the reducing agent, and as such is exorbitantly priced. A search on Amazon will easily find 5% or 10% oxalic acid solutions intended for other purposes at a much lower price, and a broader searh will find crystals and various solutions on sale. Oxalic acid is a "narural" compound found in the leaves of many plants, notably wood sorrel (Oxalis) and rhubarb. If one needs a lot of this stuff, it is not difficult to make uo a solution similar to HG Stain Away 7 at a fraction of the price, if only a little is needed the HG product is fine. Remember that oxalic acid is toxic. Some of the reducing agents used for indigo dying would probably also do the trick but test first: they may bleach or alter any fabric dye too.
