So far I really love this magnifying lense and light. The table clamp option didn't work at all for me. The weight of the lense pulled the clamp off the desk right away. But the table stand works great. It does matter how you have the unit positioned. I have it set now so that the arm reaches over the stand, not away from it or to the side. When I tried positioning it any other way it tipped over. But when positioned properly it seems to hold its oun weight just fine. I've seen a lot of reviews saying that the lense didn't magnify very much. But with some experimenting and practice I've found it to magnify very well. It matters a lot how close your object is to the lense. The farther away the object is, the greater the magnification, but also the greater the blurr. Too close isn't magnified enough and too far is too blurry. So, you'll need to find just the right distance away to hold your object to magnify it just right. And the distance of your face from the lense matters a lot, too. With some practice I was able to find that sweet spot where the object really is magnified very well and is very clear. I can't say if it is 10x or not. But once I found just the right way to use it I don't doubt that it really is 10x. I really love the light feature. Doing detailed enough work for 10x magnification without excellent lighting would be next to impossible. But it's very doable with this light. I haven't experimented with the dimmer or the different color settings. I set mine to the white light on the brightest it can go. That works perfectly for me. The light does get hot. That hasn't been an issue for me. But do be careful not to touch the front side of the unit while the light is on. I am using my set-up to see the fine details on the jewelry as I polish with a rotery tool. This light and magnifying lense combo is working perfectly for that for me. And the lense is so strong that I don't have to hunch over or get my face too close to what I am doing. I haven't actually used the octopus clamp arms at all yet. I plan to use them at another work station to hold the jewelry carefully as I solder tiny bits of it. I had been planning to use this light and magnifying lense for my polishing setup as well as my soldering setup. But it is so important to position the lense exactly right that moving it back and forth between stations is not going to work for me. I will be leaving this lense and light positioned precicely where it works best for polishing. And I will buy a second unit to keep set up for soldering. I do recommend this unit. Just know that you have to position it so that the weight of the lense is supported properly by the base - with the arm over the base, not to the back or the side. And experiment to find that sweet spot that really will magnify a project perfectly. And even though the lights are LED, they do get hot, so be careful not to touch them while they are on.

I use this for electrical soldering and carburator work. The magnification is really nice. You'll need to be close to your work roughly 5 inches . If I use both eyes to view through the glass it's a bit weird so I use one eye and it works well. The light works good for a lamp or to help illuminate your work area. The clamps are very handy and the magnets are very strong. I've held an I pad with the clamps no issues. The metal base is heavy enough so the fixture won't fall. Regarding magnification to give you an idea if your working on a Mico pcb board it's not enough to work on that. But for any other type of electrical it's great! in different terms you'd be able to see all parts of a small ant or flea.

This is an amazing tool and a must have. I was pleasantly surprised to find the light is quality glass and nice and bright. I do wish the light was larger but for the price I cant complain. If they had a larger model, I would gladly buy it. The magnets are super strong, I couldn't believe it. I have already recommended this item to a friend and he bought it and is extremely happy. He originally had a similar model in his cart when I urged him to get this instead. I would like to get another set of magnetic arms for this. perhaps a bit longer and shorter to have options. I also like how the alligator clips are rubber coated and are strong enough to hold things in place(see pics) If your on the fence as to get this or another, choose this, unless they come out with a larger model. BTW, this is heavy enough that it does not fall over. The base is super sturdy and has a nice bit of weight to hole everything without needing to clamp things down.
