Kid had it put together in no time!

It is, what it is. It's a nice representation of the aircraft, and a wonderful break from my more taxing models. It only took a few minutes of clean-up and put together, but I've spent several hours painting it....just for fun.

For the most part this is a decent kit. Parts fit is very good, as are the decals. While the molding is quite good there are lots of panel lines that have been omitted and the canopy is a solid chunk of clear plastic. The Fuse and wing are molded as two solid pieces, the only surface detail being the control surfaces. The canopy, while being a solid chunk of clear plastic is quite detailed, with all panels being crisply defined. The landing gear is a one part wheel and leg molded together with no details. There are no painting instructions. Being that this is a snap kit for war gamers I'm not to surprised by the lack of surface detail or the lack of painting instructions. It seems strange to me that with the quality of the moldings, Zvezda didn't make a fully detailed model of the IL-2. After all, this was the most produced aircraft to date (36,000+). Also note that this is the early version (single seat). The later versions had a rear gunner. Overall, It's a nice build but you will have to do your homework for paint schemes.
