Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash (Nintendo Wii U)
This game is the peak of tennis games. From the simplest gameplay to the almost professional gameplay we can try a lot of variations. You can play alone against the console and choose the multiplayer mode. This game is also a must for Nintendo-Mario fans! I recommend buying !. This game can't be just five stars!

New balls! No content!
As many have mentioned here, whilst Ultra Smash has nice graphics and controls, it suffers from a chronic lack of content. Few characters, few game modes and worst of all, no tournament mode. There is nothing to play for in the medium to long term and the game suffers in comparison to the much superior 3DS version. I also disliked the new feature where a mushroom makes you or your opponent grow large, and hit the ball harder. This unbalances the game terribly and adds nothing. All in all, this smacks of a cheap rush job to fill the large gap in the Wii U release schedule. Get the 3DS version if you have the option, but don't waste your cash on this.

Decent fun when played with friends
It’s a decent enough game, especially when played with friends, but there’s not really much to it. There’s hardly anything worthwhile to unlock and not really a substantial single player mode. Worthwhile picking up for under £10, but there’s a good a reason that there’s still plenty of new copies around in 2020, years after the Wii U was discontinued.

Good game, but needs a Tournament option!
I was reluctant to make another purchase after having read some of the reviews on Mario Tennis, but in the end bit the bullet because I am a Mario fan and enjoyed the previous instalments on other Nintendo consoles. After expecting something sub-standard and lazy, I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. Mario Tennis Ultra Smash is colourful, entertaining and well thought out. The only thing missing is the tournament option, but there are other options that make up for it. The main addition is the Mega Mushroom which enlarges your character when you play. Should your opponent attain one, the game does become somewhat more challenging and there is a certain level of strategy you must employ in order to ensure your victory. Should the Mega Mushroom not appeal to you, you can play in classic tennis mode. There are several badges, courts and power ups that can be achieved through earning coins or completing tasks. The more you play, the more you can unlock, giving the game the feel of achievement it lacks without the tournament mode. It won't keep you hooked forever but it is good fun and the gameplay is excellent, and you do need a certain level of strategy to advance. I enjoy it, it's something I can stick on without having to worry about needing to be glued to the TV for ages. A tournament option would however, make the game more complete.

Mario and friends return for another foray into the world of tennis. Unfortunately the mode selection is very bare bones but as with previous titles in the series the gameplay carries the game. As long as you have some friends or don't mind playing randoms online anyone from a casual tennis fan to a tennis pro could find enjoyment in this title.

Consigliatissimo.

Why can't any of the tennis or bowling games compare to the old wii sports? Using the control pad instead of motion controls equals a terrible experience. Boring
