Great but using it is about timing
So I have had tennis elbow for a year. Basically rested it for a year. Became active again after the pain died away and it flared back up again. All that 'self-limiting' condition rubbish turns out to be wrong, at least in my case. So, rather than rest it, waiting for the tendon to heal, what I needed to do was to strengthen my forearm muscles that I somehow damaged doing gardening and playing my fiddle too much.... So this is a great tool back to stronger forearms. But not alone and definitely not too soon. For me I have used gentle NHS exercises (freely available) for about two weeks. I have got myself a compression sleeve too and a warm pad. I also have one of the pressure straps too which pushes directly down on the muscle a little below the knobbly bit in the elbow where the pain is. My pre-work routine now is do my NHS exercises, use this bar doing the twist and release exercise until my forearms tire (but don't hurt) then put nurofen gel on my elbow and massage it in. Then I put the compression sleeve on for my working day. I have been doing Aikido with the pressure strap on and this feels good. I am gently returning to the fiddle for about 5 mins a day, again with the pressure strap. So far so good. No relapse. The elbow does seem to pain me occasionally but it is short-lived. I generally apply nurofen gel, massage it in, put the sleeve on and rest a day or so. My arms are feeling stronger and with that the pain seems to be receding. This is my experience but if you are plagued like me with this absolute 'pain in the proverbials' of an injury it's worth a go. So, in a nutshell...this is good but don't use it too much, too soon. In combination with other things though, it works a treat

Amazed
30/03/2020. I have been suffering with tennis elbow now for 4 years. It has now got to a point where it is impossible for me to do barbell curls or pull-ups. It is a constant draining pain to always live with and when I am sleeping at night I will wake up from the dull aching pain. Fed up of this situation I tried various methods to cure this problem but without success. I have used BPC-157 injections which cost me nearly £200 but it did nothing. I used elbow sleeves, used eltro pad shocks, massages, medication, stretching and laying off the exercise for months. The only thing so far that seems to have helped me is the deep massages I do myself on my tendons. I am now testing this Thera-Band out and I will come back for an update. My first impression though is that the blue one is too hard for me and I wish I bought the medium one. 02/04/20 - This is an update to let people suffering from tennis elbow and golfers elbow that this product has reduced my pain by 80 percent which for me is absolutely incredible. I have only been using if for a few days and at first it seemed too difficult to turn but now my muscles have adapted. I am going to continue with it and see how my elbows feel after a couple of weeks of use. There is no doubt that this has helped my pain more than anything and really I am quite in shock. Let me be clear though I am still in pain but not like how it was. I still cannot do pull-up or barbell curl but at least now I can rotate my arm without extreme pain like before. 17/04/2020 I have been using it everyday maybe 4 or 5 times throughout the day and doing around 50 repetitions. My conclusion is that the Thera-Band has definitely relieved my pain more than anything else but it did not rid the pain completely. I still cannot do a pull-up nor can I do a bicep curl anymore. I may have a more serious injury that I will check out with an X-Ray however the pain was greatly reduced and for that I think anyone suffering you invest in this just to relieve the pain and it may even rid the pain completely for you if you do not have a major injury like me Update: 20th April 2021. My elbow is 90 percent better. I believe the Theraband had a very big part to play in the strengthening of the tendons in my forearm. I still use the Theraband throughout the week. The pain I had for many years was unbearable at times. Oh and I can now do pull ups and bicep curls with only a slight pain. Before it was impossible to do due to the pain.

The condition prevents me from using a hammer and is also very painful with any movement involving loaded extension of my wrist/
I have only just received this so can only review with an initial impression which is overall positive. I work as a builders apprentice and have suffered from lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) for several months. The condition prevents me from using a hammer and is also very painful with any movement involving loaded extension of my wrist/elbow and this is very obviously detrimental to my career. I have used stretching exercises, ice, massage all to no improvement. The nature of my work means any reduction in inflammation in muscle/tendon in my forearm is quickly undone by repetitive and heavy movement. I need a treatment that will strengthen as well as stretch the affected tissue and i believe the Flexbar is the best option. The band works by stretching the affected muscles and connective tissue under load. Having used the flexbar for the first time i was aware that i could not even straighten my arm due to pain throughout the exercise. Now into four days using it for 5 reps at a time i can straighten my arm though it is still painful, there is definitely no doubt it engages the appropriate muscles! I am not expecting a complete recovery from tennis elbow but want to get to a stage where i can work without having to protect my arm. I don't mind some pain but if you are reading this you may appreciate the way the condition will cause your arm to become immobile which is very frustrating. So far the flexbar has given me confidence that i may make a recovery to the point i can have mobility and strength in my elbow.

Really Useful and Effective
I bought one of these because I had pain on the inside bony part of the elbow. Searching the internet this is called Medial Epicondyltis. Otherwise known as ‘golfers elbow’ or ‘climbers elbow’ and is damage to the tendons of the forearm. It is usually caused by overuse such as taking up a new sport or activity too quickly, and in my case was very sore and painful. Looking on various internet sites the FlexBar is suggested as a means of rehabilitation. The FlexBar is a 12 inch long round bar made of a dry rubber material and has a ridged surface. They come in different colours that have a different level of resistance. Red is the lighter one, then green with the blue bar having the highest resistance. I decided to go for the green one and this seems to offer the right level of resistance for me. As others have mentioned this arrives with a booklet of exercises written only in German. However it doesn’t take long to find descriptions of the exercises to do on the internet. I found a very useful You Tube video - search for ‘ Intrinsi, formally The English Osteopaths’. They have a video called ‘How to use a Theraband Flexbar for wrist, elbow or shoulder rehab’ – this covers all the exercises you can do. Also the ‘Thera-band Academy’ site has a leaflet you can download in English and details of exercises. It is also worth searching for the ‘Tyler Twist’ (for tennis elbow) and ‘Reverse Tyler Twist’ (for golfers elbow). Most of the exercises for tendonitis problems are what are known as ‘eccentric’ exercising. This is a fairly well established concept and means exercising a tendon by starting with it contracted and then letting it extend under load. This is how both the ‘Tyler twist’ for tennis elbow and ‘reverse Tyler Twist’ for golfers elbow work. There are other exercises that can be performed with the FlexBar for wrist, forearms and shoulders. I have combined using this with stretching exercises and t only take a few minutes each day. I have had an almost immediate improvement in my elbow. Obviously may not work for everyone but in my experience so far, well worth the money.

Tennis elbow saviour
I bought this for tennis elbow. The red one is perfect as a starter if you normally have some strength and no issues - it's challenging enough without putting too much strain on the tendon.

Simple, yet very effective
Was given the link for this on a FA group as a recommendation for tennis elbow. Well actually turns out I've an impingement to the front of my shoulder on a nerve running down my arm creating pains, discomfort and tingling in my fingers some times too. This has alleviated a lot of the discomfort already, works really well, yet so simple. I've mixed using this with a few stretching exercises to free up the nerve, let it glide through my tendons better, or from what I believe is the cause, and over the last few days it's been great. Still a bit to go I reckon, but has really helped a lot. May seem expensive to some for what is a essentially a piece of rubber, but I'll continue to use it with exercises as I try to correct my bad posture which is causing my problems to begin with.

Unless you have mild epicondylitis symptoms, maybe a prevention rather than a cure?
I bought this due to findings in a peer-reviewed journal, so there is probably some truth that it helps tennis/swimmers/golfers elbow etc. But what I will say is that when I used it my lateral epicondylitis (tennis or swimmers elbow) hurt like hell, and in my mind that can't be good. I went back to the most effective treatment recommended by my physiotherapist which is to bend your wrist as far as it can go and extend your arm to stretch the tendon attachment, and count to 30, a few times a day. That did help and didn't hurt much. But epicondylitis has a habit of recurring once you have had it once, so this is probably ideal as part of your regular exercise regime once you have recovered to strengthen your tendon and make sure that it doesn't happen again. To be altogether fair, i bought the medium one. If you have tennis elbow, even if you think you are a big strong man, get the soft one because it's going to hurt otherwise. But then they recommend that you move through the whole set, and they are awfully expensive for a bunch of lumps of rubber..... Or rest your elbow from sport and exercise for a bit, and try my physiotherapists stretch instead, it's free.

Challening but worth it!!
I developed really sore elbow joints last summer and have spent a good year trying to manage the pain. Ice, massage, rest, YouTube remedy videos, the lot, and nothing worked. I have also tried many of the suggestions from people commenting on the theraband.. just use a towel.. just do this exercise in the gym etc.. trust me they do not work the same. It got pretty debilitating to be honest. One year on I decided to purchase the thera-band. I went for the blue as I regularly deadlift, bench press and squat in the gym so have a pretty respectable level of strength. I wont lie, it took me ages to master the movements and the first few attempts were painful. However, a few weeks on and my elbows are steadily improving. I will also say that this is HARD WORK that requires commitment and dedication. I have pain in both elbows and three sets of 15, with rest, on each arm, takes me a good twenty minutes. I do this once a day now but began with three times. I just wish I'd had this piece of kit when the pain first emerged as I'm convinced it would of never of got as bad as it did. I look forward to the relief it brings everyday and my overall arm strength is rapidly improving and I feel I wont have to even use it anymore soon. Buy as soon as you can and dedicate time for your rehabilitation. Excellent piece of kit.
