This is the second time I've bought one after having the first one for almost 3 years in a smoking environment the motor seems to have died, the first one also got a hole and yes they do send repair patches with it I just throw it away by accident. The plastic is high quality compared to others, it's super easy to install and it helps with pressure sores and a leaving does things. And if you're wondering the motor is very quiet even on max setting. So if you or a loved one are looking for a fairly cheap and hassle free way of helping with bed sores I would highly encourage you to buy one yourself.

My wife broke her back in July on vacation. Since then she has been sleeping on a Hide-A-Bed in our family room. It was nearly impossible for her to rest, as this mattress is designed for short time guests or kids, and not for recovering from injury. Pillows, raised mattress at the head...nothing povided her with a decent rest. While searching for an expensive upgrade to the Hide-A-Bed mattress, this produc was recommended by our niece in Chile, who purchased on for her bed-ridden father. The unit is dramatically longer than the matress in our Hide-A-Bed, and I initially installed the device with the pump and hoses positioned at the head of the bed. It seemed, to me, rather intuitive, giving my wife close reach to the controls. I also tucked the excess length of the unit underneath the matress. While allowing the unit to fully inflate I continued reading the instruction manual, where it clearly indicated my 2 installation errors. First, the hoses need to be positioned at the patients feet, and not their head. Second, the inflation coils and tubing must not be folded or creased. This had been a concern of mine in the first place, which is why I continued reading through the installation instructions. Moving the pump to the other side of the bed, and positioning the mattress properly had a big impact on the noise level of the pump..as it was much father away from my wife's head. In operation it makes a mild, low frequency hum, which my wife finds soothing at night. Most importantly, the first night in use was the first full night's sleep she'd had in 3 weeks. Now, more than a week later, she is still sleeping well, her energy level is improved, and her overall pain levels has reduced...which is a good indication of healing, in my opinion. I'm very pleased with this device. I highly recommend it to anyone in a similar situation, as a very uncomfortable bed has become a rest haven for my wife.

This pad helped in relieving skin break down for most of a year. It died right around one year after purchase. The motor is working but it no longer blows air into the mattress on one side. I tried cleaning the air tubes but it didn't help. It was good when it worked and the price was low enough I can replace it often. It is an acceptable pad but not great.
