This is the real deal. It is worth every penny, making planting shrubs so much easier. Cuts through roots and matted fibrous mess with ease. Well made and solid and worth paying a bit more the real thing.

I did not think a lot of a radius digging fork I bought, but this is my favourite garden tool and has so many uses. I have not actually tried it to dig out tree roots, but I do use it for many tasks and no other tool can come near it. First, it is immensely strong - it has a resin coated steel shaft from head to toe. This makes it heavy of course, but you either get something that's light and breaks, or this! Don't be put off by reviewers who say you aren't meant to use it as a lever. Although it is true, that if you are cutting through big roots, then levering is not the right action, but it is more capable of hefty levering of stones etc than any other tool I have. My soil is chalky with a lot of heavy clay. After a dry summer I could not get anything through it. But this just cuts through like magic! The teeth and the shaped end are extremely sharp. It is also good if you need, say, to dig a hole to plant something in the middle of a border, because it cuts down deep but in a narrow radius. So it can be used as a blunderbus but is also good for precise work. It seems to clean well after a session of clay digging too. I like the radius handles, which look awkward but actually are better than D handles, and provide good grip and leverage. I also like the substantial foot plates which really help with pushing the shovel in. I recommend going on to you tube and searching for reviews of this tool. There is a good one by someone digging through frozen earth and so on.

This was a great purchase. Have used in a number of occasions to get deep roots out. Was great for slicing through bamboo tubers while removing a bamboo that was getting far too big. Does what it claims to do. And great quality item with cover to keep it in good condition.

A must have for any dedicated gardener. I bought this upon the request of a family member who is a gardener - she is thrilled with it. It is amazing and makes it possible to dig the previously impossible - worth every penny. It is good and sturdy too so should stand the test of time.

When this arrived I was skeptical because it's quite narrow and small. Also the handle doesn't look that comfortable. But I'm glad to report that it really is a great spade and I couldn't have removed multiple roots without it. But I also couldn't have removed roots without the help of other tools like a pick axe, saw and long shovel aswell!

It certainly does the job when required on certain soils.

Brilliant spade. Used it to break into hard ground and through bush roots. Light enough to carry around (metal detecting) but also great for new planting in the garden.

This is really so good in getting roots out. Really does what it says. Had a big area to did out with lots of tree roots. I tried using a normal spade in the beginning but didn’t get anywhere. The sharp edges really does cut the roots and make it easy to go deep and loosen the roos to get it out. Definitely worth the money.

Vilket fantastiskt verktyg, fungerar bra även för kvinnor eller äldre. Jag är helt nöjd med den och kan bara rekommendera den helhjärtat. Priset kan kännas lite högt men definitivt värt det.

Brilliant, slightly smaller and lighter than normal Rootslayer, very manageable but has a knob handle not the normal ring type, perhaps difficult for man with large hands.

Produit solide, je l'ai maltraité et il ne bronche pas. Rien à voir avec une bêche traditionnelle, celle ci pénètre le sol beaucoup plus facilement et l'appui prévu pour enfoncer la pelle bêche dans le sol est vraiment adapté.

C’est du costaud, plaisir de travailler avec. Dommage que le livreur ne prend pas la peine de venir jusqu'à chez moi et le dépose directement dans un point relais.

love this shovel, works on tough to get at roots and allows you to really pry on it and use the round handle for leverage good quality and sturdy. I also bought the hand trowel and it is wonderful also.
