Keeps shelters staked down!!!
Bought this as an additional tie down for my shelter. The most difficult part of the process was drilling a hole into the shelter tubing. The only other "difficult" part was hammering the tie-down into the ground. This was made fairly easy though as the set comes with a metal bar to hammer the base into the ground. Directions were easy to follow. Once everything was set up, the ratchet went together easily and did a great job of holding the shelter down. Several months later and it has not come loose at all, and the shelter has remained in place, even through several heavy storms with strong winds. The four that came with the original shelter MIGHT have held, but I'm confident that I have nothing to worry about with this set.

Good product, but like many of the other reviews ...
Good product, but like many of the other reviews have stated... BE CAREFUL WITH INSTALL! I ended up damaging one of the anchors and the rod in the ground so I had to cut the part of the rod that was damaged and try again (got 3 of the 4 anchors in the ground)!

pain in the butt right out of the box
Concept for installing seems simple. Use the drive rod to insert the anchor to the proper depth as instructed. It was impossible to pull the rod out of the anchor as the rod diameter is straight and the anchor as cast is slightly tapered. Had to dig the anchor out of the ground and put it in a bench vice to tap it free with a hammer. I ground the tip of the drive rod to a slight taper for about an inch of the rod. That little bit of grinding made it much easier to remove the rod from the anchor after driving anchor to the desired depth. The rod is a softer metal and mushrooms quite easily on both ends. Not sure how long these anchors will hold but the installation is why it only gets a two star rating.

Not good when it jams...
work well, just remember, when you use the rod to drive the anchor in the ground, DO NOT place the peened end of the rod into the next anchor... It will jam....Not good...

Best new product! These anchors are staying put.
Best was to use a ground anchor. Only glitch, the last one put in & ratcheted the metal came apart and now nothing to put ratchet on😕

Good product but watch for defects before install
These are easy to install and work great how ever be sure to check the crimp connections where the cables make a loop. 2 of the 4 cables i received pulled right out and were already drove in the ground.

Would be perfect for building a tiger trap, but I think you'd need several kits...
The driving rod got stuck in the first anchor and would not come out. If it wasn't a deadly hazard with a 3/8 inch rod protruding 2 1/2 feet up from the ground, I would have left the spike were it stood. I tried to wench the whole thing out via the cable loop and of course the clamp just slipped and there went the loop. In the end I had to dig the rod-anchor out of the ground with a pick axe and could never get the garbage separated.

Simply put, perfect. I purchased a 20 by 20 shelter from Costco - My driveway is not levelled so I had to be pretty crafty to make everything just perfect. With winds and heavy snow, there is no room for error. The finishing touch was the anchor system. Easy to put up and tough. I was impressed. THe only thing I would recommend is that either make the long metal rod used to pound the anchor into the ground a little tougher or include 2 instead of 1 in the package. Other than that, this product is awesome.

Ok, I give the product 5 stars even though half of one kit (I purchased two) was defective, and I will explain why. First of all, they work great. However, you may run into the odd one that ends up looking like in the photo that I posted. The crimp simply did not hold and the cable pulled out. I didn't get overly upset about it because these things happen. I consider it a learning experience, and will pass on this advice. If you have a vice, or something solid you can lay it on and use a good hammer, I suggest adding a bit more pressure to the crimps before installing them, just to be sure. I give it 5 stars for value for your money because it is a cheap price to pay for peace of mind knowing your shelter isn't going to blow away in the wind. I give it 5 stars for easy to use because, well, it isn't rocket science. You take a hammer and pound it into the ground. HOWEVER, don't make the same dumb mistake I did and forget to take the black rubber off the end before you do. Why the heck did they put that on there anyway?? No need for it. Anyway, if you do forget plan on grunting and swearing for an hour or so trying to get it out. But once you do get it out and take that rubber off, the rest go smoothly. I give it only 4 stars for easy to use. You are basically trying to pound a 3 foot half inch rod into the ground, and that can be painful if you miss. I pounded in 8 anchors and only hit myself with the hammer once. If your eye-hand coordination is a little off, I suggest you wear gloves. As for the 2 broken cables that I ended up with, I called Amazon and explained the situation, and explained that there was nothing to send back except two dirty broken cables and 2 ratchets because the rest in in the ground or installed, and they are sending me a replacement kit. A1 customer service on Amazon's part. I called just before posting this review and the new kit will be here in two days. Anyway, that's it. Hope this review helps.

First off, the drive bar comes with black plastic ends. No where does it say to remove these so when i tried to install the first one the bar would not come out of the hook. No amount of twisting, turning, prying would get it out, rendering the rest of the set useless because i had no bar to install them. Luckily I contacted amazon and they immediately sent a new set. Once I received it I used a knife to remove the black tips and the rest of the installation went very smoothly. These were much easier to install in rocky ground than the auger type of anchor that came with the shelter. Have a good drill with good drill bits to get the holes in. I had to borrow a better one but easy once i got going!

3 rd time buy, all good !

Works fairly well, however I had 2 ground anchor cables slip out of the swage. They are imbedded in the ground and unrecoverable/useless. Be sure to inspect the swaging on the cables as I had a couple others that appeared to be lightly crimped or the cable wasn't completely in the swage. The ratchets are very cheap but they mostly work. Amazon has looked after me very well for the defective anchors.
