The Witch's Broom: The Craft, Lore & Magick of Broomsticks (The Witch's Tools Series, 1)

Don't get me wrong, the book is a delightful and informative read in the first two chapters and it reels you in there, and chapters 3 and 4 get into the more technical parts of what really makes good a broom, especially with respect to what your purposes are for it.Chapter 5 onward got extremely tedious for me. Far too much hype was placed on brooms as if they were like craft wreaths, which is a good analogy that even the author used, but broomsticks as a magical decoration feels far too much like a waste of a perfectly practical item, imo, barring the herby holiday and cinnamon brooms out there, ofc.I DID VERY MUCH like the author's invocation and incantation structure! I've been on the path since I was twelve years old and never found any other authors, writers, or mentors who had such a clear and simple but deeply reverent structure as that, and it's GLORIOUS to finally find it somewhere and think of ways to adapt it for other rituals of my own!I wanted a lot more on practical ways of using brooms in everyday magic and mindfulness, and more on the magical properties and folkloric history of the herbs and woods that traditionally make broomsticks, but ah well.

This was such a well written and useful book. I am so glad I bought a physical copy because I know I will be referencing this a lot in the future, especially since I want to make my own magical brooms. This book was filled with the history of brooms, broom making, material choices and meanings, rituals, and spells. I especially loved the section for young witches because this is a great way to include children in rituals and practices (no I don’t have children but I can see the potential).Overall, a wonderful and helpful book. I am so glad I picked it up and wish I had read it sooner.

I've practiced the craft for 35 years, so it's rare for me to find a new book on the market about the Craft that excites me. Deborah Blake has collected the ultimate compendium of broom lore. Best of all, the information presented is not aimed at either newcomers or old-timers. Everyone who reads the witches broom should find something to inspire their practice some of this information I knew an embarrassing amount I forgot and there were new ideas which sparked my creativity and created even more new ideas, and should give non-magickal people insights into old customs. Don't let the idea that it's just a simple book on brooms put you off. Often it's the simple things that have the greatest impact, and I am so excited to try the new ideas I picked up from this book. It should inspire your own magical creativity many times over. I know it will be on my witches bookshelf forever. And isn't the inspiration of creativity the very essence of magick? I expect to see this book around 20 years from now being referenced many times. Congrats to Deb on a valuable and fun addition to our literature.

The book is great! However I think I received an old copy. It has a different cover then what’s shown in the description. It’s still the same book with all the same info but the cover doesn’t match with my other books so now it doesn’t look as nice on my self.

This book is so much fun! If you're tired of reading beginner's guides to Wicca & witchcraft, try some of Deborah Blake's books, such as The Witch's Broom. This book is full of inspiring rituals, spells, and artsy/crafty ideas, but it's also packed with history and lore regarding broomsticks and witchcraft! It's beautifully written in an informative but conversational way - almost as if the author is speaking to an old friend. The book is also illustrated by Mickie Mueller with adorable and intricate black and white pictures throughout, so it's easy to look at too! It's not just for those experienced in the craft: a beginner to the craft could enjoy it too. I honestly cannot say enough positive things about this book, and would highly recommend it and any other works by Deborah Blake.

This is a fantastic book for anyone interested in making their 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc broom. The book holds many spells and ideas on how to use you broom as well as how to make one. Gives insight on specific herbs, oils etc to use for your specific broom. Highly recommend this book.

Well written and well researched. I own two decorative brain style brooms. Never used them in ritual. This work gave me inspiration and some good ideas.I'm not much of a house cleaner, so my attraction to the brooms puzzled me. I purchased them nonetheless. I now have some ideas what uses they may have.The book is a delightful magical journey. The flying broomstick meditation is wonderful. The spirit and tenor of the book put me in touch w higher and positive energies.I would encourage students of the magical arts to peruse this in depth survey and practice guide.

I thought this was going to be a short get to know type of book. However, there is so much information and it's just jam packed with great information.... from some basic wood types to craft and gift ideas, and I'm not even a third of the way through. Worth every penny and then some. Thanks so much!!!!!!

This book is now one of my favourite books. It covers the history of the witches broom and uses and how to make your own. It is one I would highly recommend.

This was a gift for a special friend and she just loved it. Now I will be ordering more of this book for more of my friends. this author is just so knowledgeable on this subject.The broom is least used as a magickal tool but with this book you have new and powerful magic rituals to try.
