Review: Brilliant Book on Perspective of Selling - “DON’T SELL, MAKE THEM BUY”...a brilliant book by R Mukund, having a world of wisdom who has changed business organizations and transformed business leaders through his unique coaching style and consulting methodologies. He has literally poured his heart, the powerful insights on the sight of selling into this pocket sized book. We all talk of sales and there is aspect of selling in everything we do, and selling in organization is one of the most important facets but facing the customers is where the faultline starts. Most falter there and the sales ends before it could start... There is so much to selling that it can virtually make or break the business. Having a good product is one thing and making a business case out of that is another thing, and selling plays such a vital role and organizations miss out how to make the most out of their sales activity. It is here that good books are missing which can unclutter the sales process and making selling simple to understand and apply. Mukund does so brilliantly and touches every aspect of the process and how to make the programme of selling a magic in the organization, otherwise we get locked in the logic of selling. He has beautifully captured the art and the science of selling. The science is the knowledge part and the art is where the edge is. Selling is a skill and selling is a subtle will where the bill gets generated when the buying process is put in perspective. Mukund has wonderfully articulated and presented the facet of communication in selling which often gets overlooked and that is the body language. He has so cleanly and clearly presented the pictures how to communicate and connect through our expressions and gestures. Many times salesperson miss out on the importance of following a script and making the process pale, he has given different scenarios and contextualized the script which is so handy to the sales community. Another very important aspects of selling gets highly neglected is that of the listening power, he has crafted a nuanced perspective by bringing two facets – listening through our heart and listening through our head. I have just picked few gems from the book of wisdom, and it is a must read and must be a handy book with every salesperson. Every clients of mine where they have started reading this book have changed their fundamental perspective on selling to making their customer buy...we usually don’t but when we pause and reflect on the title, it is such a profound statement, just that nobody had the twin power of the experience and expression how to make a sense of the essence of selling. Mukund has simplified the most complicated process of selling and making it extremely easy to read, understand the fundamentals of selling and apply the core principles to fetch the best possible sales results by changing the perspective from selling to buying... Review: Practical, ready to use insights - This book was a breath of fresh air when compared to the usual tribe of management books espousing habits and practices from a 20000 ft vantage point. The writing in itself was an easy read, hence allowing the reader to focus on the subject at hand rather than exerting an effort assimilating the information. Judging by the language, the conversational style and the tips and advice, I'd say this book is targetted at the ground level sales personnel dealing with customers on a daily basis. I have begun to consciously apply the suggestions in my daily role and am currently observing the outcomes... A great follow up book would be a similar ground level "how to" for sales managers...
