A colorful rope light with FX
I was looking for a neon style rope light to use as a border around the front edge of a stage. This product fulfills my requirements. Whike it displays all the standard colors, it also runs several eye catching, multi color effects. The rope light can be controlled directly by a multi position switch or by a remote pad. This item also may be controlled by an app over wifi. I did not test the app. Note: This rope light does get warm. Do not operate until you have uncoiled the rope. Two points of criticism: The instruction sheet. It is too small; the print is impossible to read without a magnifier. The app will not load properly without establishing a user account. Overall, the rope light gets 5 stars because I was favorably impressed with all the "eye candy" effects it provides.

Nice neon rope light for Alexa or Smart Life
I have some experience with using addressable WS2811 LED’s and other LED light strips. What I like about this light strip is that it works with Alexa and the SmartLife app. The reason that I deducted a star is because even though I have been using SmartLife for years for many different devices, I still had difficulty getting this rope to connect. Yes, there are instructions included, but they really fail to point out how to carry out the reset procedure properly to get these lights into the pairing mode. Sure, you disconnect them, then power them on and off twice. What you really need to do is power them on, then wait for them to blink once, then power off, power on, and wait for the blink, then power off. Power on again, and this time it will enter a distinct pairing mode (lights turn red, and “breath”). The remote is handy for adjusting the speed of the animations and the brightness, and also for simple settings. I found that the animations move more quickly than I like, but to each their own. Overall a pretty decent light strip if your not looking for total customization of the animations. PRO’s: - Bright and good color rendering - Flexible and waterproof rope form - Alexa and Smart Life compatible - Included IR remote CON’s. - Tricky SmartLife app pairing, and limited animation/ display flexibility. - Music mode seems random and underwhelming. In summary, the rope light itself is a pretty decent product (5 Stars). It’s nice that it integrates with Alexa, and SmartLife, but the SmartLife app is the real weak spot for controlling the light animations. I hope you find these pics and review helpful. Thanks!

Uses the Smart Life App
In my opinion the smart life app is the best app there is so, when I have a choice of similar products I always choose the one that uses smartlife over anything else. I have several different sets of these type of lights, and to be fair, they are mostly all the same, with the exception of the app that runs them, and the adhesion capability of the backing, and to some degree the build quality or diffusion layer of the of the rope itself that makes it look more 'neon' rather than seeing each individual led bulb. I prefer the more neon style so the diffusion layer is important to me for this reason. These ones checked all the boxes of what I like, smart life app, good adhesion, good diffusion, good build quality overall. These are "the good ones".

Great looking lights, but had major issues connecting to app
I really love how these lights look, you can't see any individual LEDs, and the rubber diffuser gives them an almost fluorescent look. The app is actually extremely good, you can adjust the color down to each individual LED section, so you can heavily customize how these look and behave. There are also a lot of animated light modes, and you can create your own. They're also more flexible than I expected, you can easily bend and mount them to fit cleanly around a sharp 90-degree corner. I did have some major problems getting these lights to connect to the app though. I have a nearly $300 ASUS RT-AX86U Wi-Fi 6 router that I use as the main router for my home. These lights absolutely refused to connect to that router. The instructions say to connect on the 2.4Ghz band, to disable Wi-Fi 6 (pretty lame that you need to do that for some lights), and make sure the authentication/encryption are set to WPA2-PSK and AES respectively. I did all of those things with no success. The app could see the light strip, but whenever I tried to pair it to the app it would either time out or say it couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi network. I eventually got fed up with trying to make it work, so I dug my old TP-Link Archer A7 Wi-Fi router out of my closet and set it up as a wireless access point, then used that network to connect the lights to the app, which it did without issue. So, if you have a Wi-Fi 6 router, there's a decent chance these lights won't work with it.

Stopped working after a few hours of use
I got this strip for my daughters bedroom and we were trying it out over the headboard before putting it up with the brackets. It worked fine initially and I could link it to the SmartLife app. Colors were great and there are some nice sequence patterns preprogrammed. Unfortunately, it stopped working after only a few hours of running. It now only switches on in pure white mode when plugged in and neither the remote control nor the hard wired controller do anything. I cannot recommend the controller included with this set. It is cheaply made and not worth the trouble. The silicon RGB LED strip is generic and is quite nice and soft with good LED's. Instead of disposing of everything, I decided to repurpose it for undercounter lights in the kitchen, using a different smart LED controller which I am going to solder directly to the RGB connectors on the LED strip inside the silicon sleeve.

Bright With Lots of Options
These lights are bright and offer a lot of options. I will note that they get hotter than I expected. They also should probably come with a few more clips to hold them due to the rope's weight. Depending on how you choose to install them will determine whether or not you need more clips. I placed them underneath my kitchen cabinets, requiring more clips to secure them to the cabinets. The app offers many customizable features along with the remote. I was able to pair them to my Google home device, but I cannot find them in Google Assist. Overall, I am happy with these lights.

One glaring problem….
Is the adhesion of the light to a surface. Because of the material used to construct this light, 3M tape does not stick to it. A certain big ape tape does not stick to it well, either. It is made of rubber. It’s made of rubber to make it easy to make into any shape you can think of, which is absolutely wonderful. I cannot find any fault in how wonderful it is with regards to how easy it is to manipulate and shape. But getting it to stick to anything is the problem. They do supply you with little brackets to hold it in place, but there are not enough of them to really make intricate designs. I am going to try to add the 3M tape to the brackets and then use that to hold them up to make my design on the wall, for my wife. But it’s not going to be used for what I had originally planned to do with it. But it can be integrated as part of the entire design. Colors are wonderful. It is easy to control with the remote. Very bright and fast to respond to button pushes. Makes a very nice border light or simple designs. I am using this with a smart outlet as I use HomeKit, which is not supported with this product. It maintains the color when it is powered off and on with the smart outlet, which is a big thing for me.
